Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Really fun course in great shape, only annoying part was the sprinklers on at 9am in the middle of cart paths and fairways.
Cherokee in decent shape - some advice
I like the layout of the course
Some really excellent holes
Greens were solid and airways lush
They were pumping water into course
Staff were working on course doing some additional work at front of 8th greens
Nice work
Still i think it could be even better with some modest work
Blue tee on 2 is gone - they need to trim trees on left had side to take the wear off the right hand side of tee. Also get more light on tee and sod the tee
Excellent par three 12 - cut trees on right side that are growing in too far for tee shot
Few places have extreme gaps from rough to cart path.. Build some transition ramps and have better signage on where carts should exit..
Great layout
2nd time playing this course this year - need to play it more often. Beautiful layout, great conditioned course - in my view the best deal overall in Atlanta area.
Great track.
Play this course often and it’s always a great challenge. Tee boxes could use some attention. Course has some bite to it so be prepared to use every club.. If you can play here, you can play anywhere.
Always a good time if pace is reasonable!
I enjoy this course each time I get to play it, about 5-6 times a year. It’s once of the best, affordable public course in the Atlanta area. Course conditions were great, except a little inconsistent greens, but within respectable range. Pace was very decent considering the amount of players. Staff was very nice and courteous. Looking forward to another round soon!
The course is great!
Beautiful course! Greens are fantastic. Great food and drinks at the clubhouse!
Excellent course.
We played again after 4 years, and both the course and greens were excellent. This is a course I would like to come back to again, and I would recommend it to everyone.
Always a good challenge!
Staff was fantastic, greens are a little inconsistent. I love playing this course. Greens are undergoing a little work to get back up to speed. Some very fast, others very bumpy and slow. Other than that,, a very good outing. Highly recommended if you want to challenge your skills.
A fun course to play Some holes are a little challenging, but a lot of fun
Not the Cherokee Run I’m Used To
I love Cherokee Run. Every time I’ve played it prior to this round, the fairways were terrific, the bunkers were great, and the greens rolled very fast and true. However, this was the first time In the over 25+ times that I’ve played this course that I was disappointed. The greens have a fungus on them that has created dead spots on virtually every green. The blackened dead spots, have seriously damaged the normally great greens that Cherokee Run is known for. I view Cherokee Run as one of the best values in Atlanta golf. Typically, it is of private golf club quality for a public golf course. This round however proved quite different from the norm. I hope the management and ground staff get this problem fixed quickly, and get Cherokee Run back to the stature it has earned and deserves.
One of my favorites.
I always enjoy playing this course. I like the Zoysia fairways as there always seem to me grass to hit off of when you are in the fairway. The greens are normally pretty fast, challenging and in great shape. Today, however, the greens were somewhat of a disappointment. There is some sort of fungus causing bare spots on all of the greens. The bare spots definitely affect your putt should you happen to roll over one of these bare spots. The spots will redirect the path of your ball. Hopefully they can save these greens before this disease spreads causing them to lose the greens.
Excellent track
Tough course but if you play the right tees it is very enjoyable. Greens are fast but fair. One of the best values in the city. .
A Must-Play Golf Course
I love this golf course. If I lived closer to it, I would play there every week. The course condition is always a 5 star. Whenever I have golf buddies visiting the Atlanta area, this is the course I try to take them to. Green fees are very reasonable for the quality of course
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
We play this course regularly. We have had conversations with Trey about the few greens at Cherokee Run that you are talking about. That is not disease. They treated the Poa Annua and killed it and growing it back over. By June it should be much better I imagine.
