Cherokee Run Golf Club

About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Excellent course.
We played again after 4 years, and both the course and greens were excellent. This is a course I would like to come back to again, and I would recommend it to everyone.
Always a good challenge!
Staff was fantastic, greens are a little inconsistent. I love playing this course. Greens are undergoing a little work to get back up to speed. Some very fast, others very bumpy and slow. Other than that,, a very good outing. Highly recommended if you want to challenge your skills.
A fun course to play Some holes are a little challenging, but a lot of fun
Not the Cherokee Run I’m Used To
I love Cherokee Run. Every time I’ve played it prior to this round, the fairways were terrific, the bunkers were great, and the greens rolled very fast and true. However, this was the first time In the over 25+ times that I’ve played this course that I was disappointed. The greens have a fungus on them that has created dead spots on virtually every green. The blackened dead spots, have seriously damaged the normally great greens that Cherokee Run is known for. I view Cherokee Run as one of the best values in Atlanta golf. Typically, it is of private golf club quality for a public golf course. This round however proved quite different from the norm. I hope the management and ground staff get this problem fixed quickly, and get Cherokee Run back to the stature it has earned and deserves.
One of my favorites.
I always enjoy playing this course. I like the Zoysia fairways as there always seem to me grass to hit off of when you are in the fairway. The greens are normally pretty fast, challenging and in great shape. Today, however, the greens were somewhat of a disappointment. There is some sort of fungus causing bare spots on all of the greens. The bare spots definitely affect your putt should you happen to roll over one of these bare spots. The spots will redirect the path of your ball. Hopefully they can save these greens before this disease spreads causing them to lose the greens.
Excellent track
Tough course but if you play the right tees it is very enjoyable. Greens are fast but fair. One of the best values in the city. .
A Must-Play Golf Course
I love this golf course. If I lived closer to it, I would play there every week. The course condition is always a 5 star. Whenever I have golf buddies visiting the Atlanta area, this is the course I try to take them to. Green fees are very reasonable for the quality of course
The Run With Friends.
Course in great shape, but was very slow play. The foursome in front of us REALLY took their time
Great value - l conditions could be better
We received a great price to play this course. It is a great Arnold Palmer, design and layout. Some of the tea boxes were in rough condition and some disease on the greens but overall good conditions just not great or outstanding.
Course has great bones - will be back
Played in 4 hours mid week
They have treated the greens for poa
So many bare spots that will grow back but they still rolled very well.
First hole reminds me of Friar Heads
Many greens are protected by creeks
Tee boxes are a little bare in places
Many great holes
Starter did a good job
Pro shop is nice
Had a awesome lunch on balcony overlooking the 9th green
Grilled shrimp tacos and grilled chicken wrap
Practice facilities were solid and close to clubhouse
Will be back..
Drove 55 mins to play and will be back
Will try this one again
Interesting course. Than goodness the starter gave us a "cheat-sheet" with a little description of each hole. Also helped immensely to have the GPS on the cart. Some very interesting holes. Some rough spots here and there on the course that need a little attention, but most of them are in spots you don't want to be. Greens rolled true and were in great shape, Want to play again when everything greens up.
Nice Shape
Haven’t played here in a wile. I need to put this course on my playing schedule. Greens roll nice and Fair ways nice and plush.
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package

We play this course regularly. We have had conversations with Trey about the few greens at Cherokee Run that you are talking about. That is not disease. They treated the Poa Annua and killed it and growing it back over. By June it should be much better I imagine.
