PGA WEST Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course

There isn’t much more one can desire when playing the Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course. Stunning views, friendly staff, consistent green speeds, and priced very well. With all that said, it is still the most challenging course I’ve ever faced in 3 years of golfing.

Course design with bad intensions, meaning the little things the average joe isn't aware of come into play. After each hole I'm thinking I got bite by this or that small subtle design. Whether it be a false front, a partial side slope at the entrance to the green, protected greens by addition bunkers, collection depression near the greens and the many waste spots with bushy vegetation along the channeled fairways. All these planned brilliant variants for golfers can have a negative impact on one's game. No wonder professional's show up to tournaments early and play practice rounds.

Course conditions overall good. Greens were fast which I was aware of and adjusted by clubbing down some, or running balls onto the green. Putting is true, once you locate the line speed to get it there is key. I wish I would have thought my way around the course better. I'll make up for it next time I visit, which can't be soon enough. Completely enjoyed the challenge.

Per the player assistant, the greens are new at this course. As a result, it was difficult to hold greens even with lofted clubs. If you've played this course, you understand that holding the greens here is a must for one to shoot a low score. You just have to be smarter about your approach shots. Overall a great course, sneaky tough. You need your A+ game, especially on approach shots.

Whether it is a PGA West, Stadium Course or Jack Nicklaus course, you can never go wrong with a PGA West. The greens are very fast this time of year in the desert heat. As a beginner golfer, I found this course to be somewhat challenging. This has been by far the best golf I have ever played.

Had a fun round, great course beautiful views and a gorgeous neighborhood! Classy in every respect! Staff is wonderful and had plenty of course support. The pro shop is large and the bar outside the pro shop is inviting. The starter directed us with great tips which greatly helped our round.

The staff was great. We didn’t feel rushed, very friendly environment for a beginner. Lots of bunkers! Practice facility was amazing. I would definitely play here again and recommend!

Great value. Not crowded. FAST but true greens. Beautiful layojt. Tough but fair. Can't wait for next time.

Worst customer service I have experienced ever. When we arrived we were told to put our clubs on a probate member s cart, go inside to pay and when we arrived at our carts our items were missing!! We told the cart boy and he said “frankly....that’s impossible!” There was ZERO accountability and it made for a stressful start we did not need to experience on our vacation to Palm Springs!!

Staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Course is still recovering from the new greens but will be awesome next season!!

The course plays long, narrow, and challenging fairways, course management, and shot selection are critical. Course in great condition.

You have to be able to hit your shots high in order to stay on the greens, even though they are on the slow side. Small greens, lots of sand traps, which need a lot of work.

Very hilly course, wide fairways

The course was in great shape except for rock hard greens, which is fairly common for resort courses here in the Coachella Valley. Very well bunkered, which results in slower pace of play since the greens will not hold. Greens were rolling around 13. Sand traps were inconsistent, and in many cases hardpacked. You are paying for the PGA West name, not necessarily for a pristinely manicured course. There are many courses in the Palm Springs area which are maintained as well as this course for less than half the price.

As a side note, this was the second time this week that I showed for a tee time booked through Golfnow where the course had no record of a reservation in my name. In both instances, the courses were willing and able to get me out after I showed them my confirmation email.
