Poor Maintenance
Fairways full of old divots. Greens very bumpy with ball marks everywhere. Tee boxes were redone several years back and they are now under repair again? Don't even think about hitting out of the sand traps. At this point they are just traps.
A Scenic Oasis at the Foot of Griffith Park
Roosevelt Golf Course is a hidden gem nestled at the base of Griffith Park’s hiking trails in Los Angeles. The course is beautifully maintained, with pristine, clean greens that provide an enjoyable playing experience for golfers of all skill levels. As you make your way through the course, you'll be treated to stunning views of the iconic Griffith Observatory and the lush greenery of the surrounding trees, adding to the serene atmosphere.
The friendly and attentive staff further enhance the experience, ensuring a welcoming and smooth visit. To top it all off, players can enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee or a cold beer both before and after their round, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing day of golf.
Good spot but needs some upkeep
The course is at a great location with great views and challenging layouts. I imagine the course had become a lot more crowded after covid when I first played there. The T boxes and greens are therefore in a lot worse shape than before. The manager also tried his best to bring up the pace of play, but it was just too crowded. Need some upkeep and reduce the number of tee times.
Course staff not very friendly
I got a 4:30 tee time and I don't know if I missed somewhere on the website where it says that the carts rentals stop at 3:00 pm.
Also, the groups timing are too close, you have to wait in most of the holes for a while.
Cool location, but frustrating course.
Pace of play is pretty slow because it's back to back to back 5somes and walking only. Fine if you plan for it since it's a nice walking course. What's the most frustrating though is when they're redoing the tee boxes they don't update the yardage markers. There aren't any course graphics on the playing cards either so it's difficult to map your game accurately one the holes where you can't see the flag.
Very very slow pace of play
I think most reviews on here are the same. Very slow pace of play. They allow 5 people per group. Not the course’s fault but there are players that have NO business playing on any course because of how bad they are. I witnessed the group in front of us having 3 players that took roughly 4-5 tee shots every hole. Shot out of bounds or just completely missing the ball entirely. I think if they putted the whole way they would have finished faster. It is only 9 holes but it took over 4 hours to finish. Unbelievable.
New t-boxes
This course is the same course as always but has new tea boxes virtually on every hole it shortens the course which makes it a little more playable for my short-hitting butt.
Fun but slow
Love this course. It’s the right amount of challenges and the course is well maintained for being a public course. Pace of slow is extremely slow. But that should be a given when there are usually 5 to a group and the tee times are spaced out by 5 minutes. Also, there was a group of 8 people in front of us. They were supposed to have played 4 and 4 but in the middle of the round, they began to just combine into one big group.
