Local Gem
The pines is a great golf course. It's always in really good condition. Even after heavy rains it was still 100% playable. It's got enough elevation changes to keep things interesting but level enough that walking the course doesn't feel like too much of a hike. Fun fact: I once played with a guy that caddies at pebble beach and he said the greens were in better shape at the pines at that time. The staff is awesome, they've got really good food and the price is right. What more can you ask for?
Great Course for the price
After all the rain recently the course is in great condition. Greens are fast and the fairways in good shape.

Best greens for the buck
By far the best quality putting surface for the dollar. These greens roll great. This is a great course to make you feel good about playing golf. It has all the things a golf course needs: water hazards, bunkers, some rough but mostly a good shot is rewarded by keeping it in the short grass. The walk is easy and comfortable.

Monterey Pines
When checking in we were told no carts would be allowed on the course today because of the wet conditions. The fees to play the course without a cart is $25.00. Because we had a reservation through GN that would have included a cart we were still charged the full $40.00. This just isn't right. Our fees should have been adjusted to the fee without the cart! We walked the course.
Thank you for the honest review, we appreciate the feedback regarding the different rates on GolfNow and for the course. Since walking was not offered on GolfNow next time I would suggest calling the GolfNow customer service line and cancelling your tee time.
Fun day at the pines
The course is well designed, love the staff! The starter was a no nonsense kind of guy named Bill.. he was terrific and kept the pace of play on tract.
Fun beautiful challenging
A lot to like about MP. Climate is perfect because of the usual sunny, mild days. It’s also perfect if you carry your clubs, excellent exercise. Perfect for all levels of abilities and the golfnow value is unbeatable.

great local course with super friendly staff.
Not too difficult but enough challenges to keep you interested. Love being under the flight path of Monterey Airport and the Jet Center. A great opportunity to view some beautiful planes taking off.
Smooth manicured greens
Played this morning and had a blast!
Pro shop very nice and people very friendly.
Course had just started punching the fairways on the back nine. They punched and then ran a drag over it. So we played a little toe wedge in the fairways.
Greens are in great shape! In fact they were rolling them today. Talk about smooooooth.
We played early and were a twosome and never had anyone im front or behind us. Which we enjoy!
Enjoyable Round
Crazy rolling greens on front nine. And very fast. Well maintained course. Good pace and friendly staff!
Shorty
With a par of 69 I knew this would not be a long course but was pleasantly surprised to find most of the par 4’s @ 285/340 yards. Really fun and nice course for seniors. Course-greens in good condition. Definitely more fun than getting beat-up @ one of the “big name” courses @ $300-550 per round.
