Monterey's Gem
We played the course in late November and the condition of the course was great. Relatively flat course, greens were fast, bunker beach sand was in great condition and the playable rough areas make this course easy to play for all levels.
Love this Course!!
The front 9 is moderate while the back 9 is a little more challenging. Having the Monterey Airport right behind the course lends itself to some amazing views of planes large and small taking off right overhead - so awesome!! I'd play this course 3 x a week if we lived closer.
Back 9 so slow walked off course
The course is a fun little course. The pace of play is awful due to all the par 3s on the course.
Interesting and fun layout
The course is very nicely maintained. Many shortish holes make it easy to walk. The second “ cut” rough is punishing, so position off the tee is more important than distance. There is occasional noise from the aircraft taking off from the airport next door. Lots of big cypress trees give the place character. Greens were firm and fast and true. I heard that you can buy a 10- play card for $390, which is a great deal for a course of this quality.
Loved the course conditions
Great course but pace of play slow. I’m used to 3 1/2 hour rounds. We played in 4 1/2 hours plus
Room for improvement
Pines is a well-maintained course. The only beef I have is that GolfNow will sell a tee time including cart and then staff comes around and requests carts be returned before it is even dark out. This is frustrating. If the average round is 4:30 then a tee time slot should not include cart after say 2pm. The other problem with Pines is that they will jam in single players in between scheduled times on the weekends and backs up the whole course. It is typical to have two or three groups waiting on a Tee box.
Great fun
Played this course as we had a day off , from playing the pebble courses.
Would recommend, fairly easy course however very good greens. Little tatty in places.
Refund
I was not happy with my experience at Monterey. Pines staff was very.
Not helpful. Driving range in bad shape. Before I booked, I was not aware of the course Having 2 tournaments that morning.
Pace of play was very slow.
My son and I actually left on the 15th hole. After.
Being out there already 4 hours. I would really appreciate a refund. Lmk thanks, Richard Cruz.
Good fun course
4 golfers with a spare Saturday looking for a game.
Not too difficult, greens were quick and in reasonable condition.
Beat the heat
Cool costal golf. Staff is great and course conditions perfect. With the jazz festival at the fairgrounds and Thunderbirds flying overhead a once in a lifetime experience. Looking forward to next visit.
Another beautiful day!
No, I didn't take pictures but maybe next time!! I have been playing here since 1984 and just love this course! It has gotten harder because of the upgrades and I will forever love this course! The staff is wonderful and the friendliness is top of the line!!
