Not worth the money
Great facilities, good condition, ridiculously overpriced. Not worth the money at all. Also might want to bring a hard hat, it’s wide open and balls will be flying everywhere on a busy day. No elevates tee boxes either
Good course, we'll kept
Good course with an open layout so misses aren't punished. A little pricey for 9 holes though
Solid Experience
1. I wish the course had true Tee Boxes
2. I wish the was more direction on whole #8 Blind Tee Shot
3. They need a solution to speed up the walkers
4. I will definitely play again
Recommendations + Pros
1. 9 holes took 3 hours. There was a group of 4 ladies who could barely play that backed everyone up. There was also a 3 ball of guys in front of us who couldn’t break 100 playing off the back tees! They need more Marshals out there monitoring these things and getting folks to play off the right tees based on ability. Perhaps have a Starter (there was none) to give folks a run down on tee box etiquette based off score/ability.
2. Flags on range: Definitely need more flags on range for players to gauge different distances during warmup. I counted 3, 60yds, 127yds, 180yds.
3: Starter: definitely need a starter to make sure people play off tee boxes that match their ability!
4: Marshal: need at least 2 doing the rounds to keep things flowing.
5: Cart person: the first time she came around we were on the 7th hole.
Pros:
1. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were PERFECT!!!
2. Staff: well staffed, very friendly and well organized at check in.
Like a Phoenix, Resurgens!
I was against the whole idea. A Buckhead native, I had played the 1932 BJGC 18-hole layout for 50 years., and hated to see the.sizable canopy of old oaks taken down. The deal was good for both City and State, it got the City out of the Underground debacle, and frankly the State will be a better steward. The end result is something really great. Something different, but we’ll-done. A fine walkable nine…really two, since it’s reversible. Outstanding amenities, well designed and operated. A new pleasant, small jewel.
Awesome
This is a little crown jewel in Atlanta. Course is in incredible condition for a local public. Really cool lay out. I
Good course in the city, but not the best value
One of the better shape public courses in the city, but I still can’t get over the price. You pay $40-50 to play only 9 holes that you have to walk and doesn’t include a cart. Every other public course in the area is around the same rate but you typically get 18 holes and includes a cart. Somehow they managed to change the original design from 18 holes to 9 holes and people are still willing to pay the same!
Very Pleasant Surprise
I saw a lot of three star ratings for this course so I had fairly low expectations. I can honestly say I was surprised and delighted by my experience at the course. The fairways were perfect, not a bare patch anywhere and every lie was like hitting off a perfect driving range mat. The greens were recently plugged and sanded so I am looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks, should be excellent. This course is a very good value for the money.
Bobby Jones Golf in Atlanta
This course was extremely well maintained but the strange layout made it a bit more challenging especially when it came to having to watch out for oncoming players in the adjacent fairway.
I have tried a few more courses in Atlanta but didn’t have a very good experience. I generally visit Atlanta in summers and now I prefer going in Boby Johns. However, I feel all senior citizens should be offered some discount in green fee as is generally done in many Public Gilf Courses. Thanks
Great Experience at Bobby Jones
Overall, the course was in spectacular shape. The fairways were lush—I didn’t have a bad lie all day and didn’t see a bare spot. The double greens are massive and fast; they were sanded, but that didn’t affect the speed and smoothness at all. The only downside was how busy it was for a Wednesday, but that’s expected for an Atlanta public course. We were paired with another twosome walking, and we were never held up or rushed at any point. The reversibility of the course is also something I’ve never seen from a golf course. I was looking back on each green, imagining how the alternate nine holes would look from the white tees. There are eight sets of tees for all skill levels, which is convenient for beginners and advanced players alike.
The putting course, too, is a must-play. It’s $10 dollars extra, but it’s the biggest green I’ve played on. We were having a blast with the long putts along the huge slopes. Twenty range balls are also included with each tee time for free. The hitting area there was a little bare, but it looked like they were letting the grass grow back in the surrounding area. Taking everything into account, this was one of the best golf experiences I’ve had with a very affordable price tag.
