Newport Beach Golf Course

I signed up on here as a single and was joined by three others. All three had great pace of play, were friendly, and were slightly better than myself. I think I was the only one keeping score - I shot a 94/59 - so it was a out-for-fun foursome.

The tee time was for an hour before the Super Bowl kickoff so there weren't many on the course. After the turn, we had the whole back nine to ourselves. There were some instances where a group a couple holes ahead of us were out-of-bounds and played through our hole, but it wasn't too long of a delay.

There aren't many hazards on this course and few par 4's, but some of the par 3's definitely get long for a beginner group like ours. The only negatives I have for the course is that there were stretches of area where carts had worn through the grass and caused stretches of bare dirt (you can see this on Google Maps).

I will caution that due to the course layout, there is a fair bit more pathway than the yardage may suggest. So if you're walking the course, you will get those steps in.

Great course for working on your iron game on the front nine (hitting off the mat) except for holes 4 and 7 (Par 4s). Holes 15 through 17 are also Par 4s. We usually finish 18 Holes in 3 1/2 hours which is absolutely awesome for Orange County.

Loved that the course was casual and not too stressful. This was my 1st time golfing with my daughter and we were excited to get a golf cart, we ate lunch which was delicious and big portions.

I’m not one to write reviews but this was the worst course I have ever played. Mostly mats for tee boxes and the whole course looks like it’s been shut down for years.

Wet carts for $24 and they just give you a dirty towel

These carts are dirty and falling apart … and they charge you for 2 people as a single rider… so be prepared to spend $50 to ride

Hitting off the mats is more like a driving range than a golf course

This place operates like a miniature golf course… the staff are not adequately trained and the carts cost $25 … which is the cost of 18 holes !

Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were running smooth at medium speed maybe around an 8. Pace was a little over 3 hours seeing off at 630 am on a Sunday as there were 2 slower groups ahead of us. Starter was really nice and let me go out an hour early. Love coming here.

It’s good if you’re just trying to improve certain shots of your game.

Course was in pretty good shape with some rougher areas around the greens. Greens were slower but smooth. Once you adjusted to the speed, easier to make putts as you could be pretty aggressive. Great mix of holes with 5 par 4's and 13 par 3's. Primarily teeing off mats but backside you have options to tee off grass or not. Started at 2:45 and done by 6:00 pm. Pace seemed slower with but pace of play was just over 3 hours for 18 holes. Staff was friendly and tried to accommodate getting me out early.

Greens are nice right now 10/09/2025

Love playing this course, hope they don't turn it into a surf park.
