Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Wet and wild
If you don't mind playing in a swamp during the winter time, you'll have fun. Unfortunately the water does not drain efficiently and it creates a lot of swampy areas. Some greens were dry while others were just soaking wet. Very few people out on the course at 8:00 a.m. so our pace of play was excellent. This is an excellent course in the late spring to early fall time period with beautiful views of the Bay on the back nine.
Christmas Day Round after rains.
Wet conditions caused some areas of standing water and plugged balls that we could not find. Other areas were just quite wet, so drainage is a problem over much of the course. Slipped a few times walking to my ball. Otherwise the course has some interesting holes, including blind tee shots, steep hills and plenty of trees to avoid which makes club selection critical but fun. Enjoyed the blind par 3 which has a severe drop down to the green (unfortunately lost a ball as it got plugged somewhere, found 3 other plugged balls)! And a par 6 18th hole which is always fun!
Greens
The greens were inconsistent hard to play when one is fast next slow all day was disappointed
Good short course
The course is relatively good and short, if people were very friendly
course conditions
Greens were punched a few weeks ago and are coming back nicely. Wild pigs have rooted up areas on the golf course.
Good course
Good course great staff met up with a long, lost family friend It was great
Aeration don’t but not told or online
Aeration Of greens but was not notified online or by course staff
Challenging but very fun
This round was one of the most entertaining rounds I've had in a while. I played with my regular group of friends, but the course was so challenging yet accessible, we all had an amazing time playing mediocre golf. and that par 6 hole 18... what a surprise. Such a great experience. we will definitely be back to play again. Sure wish they had a drink cart though, got awful thirsty out there.
Terribly disappointing
This course has been good in the past but for some reason they failed to disclose that it would only be 9 holes and not 18 and we would have to replay. They charged $60 and the round took 1 1/2 longer than normal I would avoid this place for the rest of the season.
It’s different but fun
Course needs a complete renovation and I know they are redoing the clubhouse but the cart paths are terrible, a bunch of fairways need help and there is almost zero cell service so apps are hard to get to work to keep score or range so bring a rangefinder. It also has a wild par 6 on the 18th! Was a lot of fun to play, tons of up and downs, no flat fairways and it plays tight.
worth an occasional visit
I had a nice round of golf with the people I met and playing the course for the first time in 10 years
With Peter, Art and Annika
There are a number of fun in challenging holes, but to me, the defining characteristic of the course is uphill and downhill shots on virtually every hole, especially uphill shots to elevated greens, which makes it very hard to hit greens and regulation and putt for par
work on your chipping before you play here so you can chip it close from off the green for a one putt par
since the course doesn’t go past the clubhouse at the turn, it would be great if the halfway house didn’t close for an hour in the middle of the day when the employee needs a break,
it would be great if you could send somebody Clubhouse to staff that
