Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course

The course was in decent shape great price since everything is expensive . No Marshall with walkers behind 3 holes so we had to pass them . Played with two guys who had no golf etiquette . They always were in the way when I and another guy was about to hit . One worked there and other plays there a lot a golf coach who thought they owned the course besides that the course and price was great .

There course has had a lot of work done and it's still on going. One of the better munis in the bay area and a great bargain for the price. Pace of play is a little slow. Highly recommend.

Course layout is awful! The grass in tee boxes aren’t trimmed especially the red and green! You should do away with these boxes! Overall a terrible course to play. Golfers are scattered all around!

T time was 9:21. Went to 1st T about 9:15 after watching a group T off. Turns out that was the 9:03 group. Okay watched the 9:12 group tee off. Then were met with a group that said they were 9:15. There was no starter so went back to clubhouse to ask and the guy from the clubhouse came out. The 9:15 was part of the mens club the guy from the clubhouse did nothing. The mens group had added their own tee time. Then turns out it was tournament day. We finished the 9th hole at 12:20, walked off an went home. The group in front of us was a sixsome. No starter, no marshal and the person in the clubhouse did nothing. Will never be back.

The course is visually well kept, but there are consistent and sever drainage issues. I played in the middle of warm weather streak in the bay, and yet somehow, the bunkers managed to have ponds in them and where there wasn’t standing water, the sand was as wet as the water line at the beach. When you walked onto the greens, you could hear the water underneath your feet. As a result the greens didn’t roll true. You had to whack downhill putts. Pretty disappointing considering the astetic of the course and the cost of the green fees.

All went well until I finished the first hole at which time the electric cart stopped working. It was unusually warm and humid, so I back-packed my clubs to the pro shop

and requested either a refund or a rain check. I might try again during cool weather, but probably not: the rough around the first green was 4" Bermuda grass.

Amazing course with amazing views and the greens rolled awesome!!

I don't recommend playing here in the afternoon as the course is already challenging and not in great shape then you have to deal with the cold weather and a lot of wind coming from the bay.

Bring your hard hat. Construction has the course in shambles. Loud, paths disrupted, tee boxes in unusual places. Wait till construction is completed. It's a mess.

Too much construction going on. Id recommend waiting till construction is finished.

The first line was normal place. The second line took almost 3 hours because they let people on early. I started at 6:30 in the morning no way it should be a 5 1/2 hour round.
