Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Beautiful course perfect conditions

Course layout was fun and views were beautiful, pace of play was tough, waiting on each hole after the first, did not see a Marshall out there.

In decline and ZERO interest in pace of play

Course is not well maintained. Fantastic location so...they have quite the monopoly.

5 hour round. Sixsomes, folks going off the back who were not in the rotation on the front, a twosome with a child holding up foursomes., etc.

Called proshop to inquire if this is standard fare for the course and they confirmed it is.

Couldnt believe it.

Cant imagine paying the rack rate for such an experience.

Not bad

Ppl always say the back 9 is great but the front 9 wasnt bad, you still get ocean view but its further away and you are surrounded by more houses. If you slice alot, maybe not the course for you. Pace is slow, alot of retired folks playing. Also random ppl hop on the back 9 for free through the side parking asking to join us and that wasnt a good experience.

Single line irrigation

Pacific Grove golf links is a wonderful Track but in Mediocre condition. It's my recommendation that PG transitions to a desert style naturalist golf course with a Single line targeted irrigation system that can substantially shrink the irrigation footprint of the golf course. By transitioning to a naturalist style golf course, PG will save the City water while simultaneously allowing the maintenance staff to MANICURE a smaller portion of the golf course and bring PG closer to resort style quality.

poor man's Pebble Beach

Front nine is just OK but the back nine is wonderful. Relatively short and tight. Back plays slow. Maybe the specular views accounts for that!

Wow. Amazing.

Great staff. Amazing fairways and greens, with fluffy punishable rough. Deer everywhere you look. Powerful waves on the back 9. Can’t ask for much more, that would just be absurd. A TRUE MUST PLAY.
