Course greens were just punched
Could not play. The front nine holes were punched Monday, and the back nine today. Tons of sand. Back nine was closed, so to do 18 holes you had to play the front nine twice.
Fun day
The course didn't do anything to memorable, but for what it was; it was incredibly well kept and the rough was thick (which proved to be unforgiving). The club fitter was super nice and actualy expedited a club repair insue for my dad while we played the front 9. Then when asked what I owed for his troubles he graciously took a bare minimum leighbour charge as payment. (Realy nice gesture). Overall a great experience. Definetly going back when in that area.
muddy mess!
Never would have booked this tee time had I known in advance that every hole was cart path only. This course does not drain well.
Course conditions are currently terrible
The greens are in pretty good shape
The fairways are litered with divots and has been sparingly mowed.
If you push left or right into the rough, be prepared to drop when go when you can’t find your ball. The rough hasn’t been mowed in quite a while, there’s plenty of dry grass out there ready. The conditions negatively affected gameplay.
The tee boxes are like driving out of the rough.
Course conditions
Course was a little wet in spots but not too bad. Front greens were rock hard. The back were just aerated, so alot slower.Alot of blown down trees.
Needs lots of work
Been playing DO for many years this is the worse shape it’s ever been in. No grass, not mowed, very poor. Greens were nice. Put some work into this course it deserves it
Nice layout
Very enjoyable course. A lot of rain has fallen lately and although muddy in some spots overall the course held up real well. Look forward to playing here when it is dry and the ball runs in the fairways.
Frosty Start.
Had a frost delay of over 90 minutes. Otherwise, a fun day. My twosome was the 4th group
out, and we frequently had to wait before hitting. Course condition was ok. Bunkers were unplayable on some holes. Greens in good condition.
Excellent Winter Play
We were lucky enough to get off about half an hour early and then a foursome playing slow let us play through. 3.5 hours for 18. Excellent. Greens are in excellent shape - a very fast. Fairways have some brown areas; but it is late fall, almost winter. T-boxes are fine. Weather turned quite nice early into our round so we quite enjoyed it all. Thanks, Diamond Oaks!
Classic California Track
For a very old Muni, Diamond Oaks has held her age well. One of the better parts about this track is typically the hacks playing have their act together. You can usually get a way with a 4ish hour round, even when it's busy. Fun course. Poor driving range, great food.
UNUSUAL
I play this course several times each year, always on a mid-week afternoon. This is one of the most played courses in the area, but this round was unusually slow. 4.5 hours during a mid-week PM is very slow. There was a 4some two groups ahead that were at least 2 holes behind the entire round. At first there was a course marshal, but he was not seen after our third hole. A marshal on this course midweek is unusual, so I am guessing there was some type of large group outing earlier in the day. I was paired with 2 others that play this course regularly and they were also complaining about the slowness of play.
Meh.
No sand in the bunkers. Greens weren’t mowed on a Sunday.
Good time!
Nice course for the money.. forgiving fairways and not too difficult.. pace of play was average greens a little slow but playable..left satisfied..
..
Best there is
I played with a good friend today and the course was perfect. He shot a 75 and I a ragged 83. We had a ball. Compliments to the staff!,,
Rough course conditions and slow pace
Could not play the ball down (too rough) and it took us 5 hours to play (no sign of a marshal anywhere on a Friday afternoon!).
