About
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch (previously known as Salinas Golf & Country Club) in Monterey boasts a reputation as "the friendliest club in the area." Opened in 1925, it's also known as one of the area's oldest clubs though they are loathe to label themselves as "traditional". The golf course sprawls across rolling countryside dotted with mature trees and the occasional water hazard. Originally opened as a nine-hole layout, the golf course may appear somewhat short at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. It's a tight layout that demands accuracy, especially when navigating the small greens. There is plenty of variety at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch, you may even find yourself using all the clubs in your bag. The golf course finishes with a stunning view of Salinas Valley from an elevated tee. The fairway slopes downhill to a well protected green guarded on the left with trees and on the right with bunkers.

Didn't know green condition
Nice course and good layout. However, green was plugged couple days ago and it was so much sand on the green. Basically it was unplayable but they charge full amount...
sanded- auto 2 puuts
great weather! Fun and challenging course. Unfortunately greens sanded. Took auto 2 putts when on green. Not upset, but still fun!
Punched greens storm damage
No mention of green aeration on GolfNow. Had to play back nine twice to get 18 in. Rain storm made a mess and lots of mud.
Give it a couple weeks and it’ll be great again.

It's really 4.5 stars, lots to like, few things to improve
The layout is fun and the course conditions were very good. Love the white sand bunkers and the greens were quite good. Staff was great, except the way they handled the bar/kitchen with them also having a wedding. They certainly could have made sure golfers you needed/wanted food could have been better accomodated. Also think some sort of cart girl would be good, and GPS in the carts would also be a plus. But those are relatively minor concerns

Must Play
The course is in excellent condition. There is no course in the south bay that can come close to Crazy Horse. The greens are smooth as an billiard table and the fairways are lush. The restaurant / bar serves up great food and drinks, I just wish I lived closer to the course.
Very Nice Course
Course was in fine shape. Greens were fast especially if you were above the hole. Only reason the course is not getting a 5 star is that the greens were not receptive. Very good value for $
Hidden Gem
Played this course for the first and I was impressed. Golf course was in great condition. Fairways were very nice and the greens were firm and roll ed true. I played with my buddy and we were done in 3 hrs.. I would definitely tee it up again here.
Dinner and golf
The course was wonderful and we didn’t have anyone rush us. Could use some better directions regarding hole designations. We had dinner after our round and everything was soooo delicious. Waitress was friendly and very attentive.
