About
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch (previously known as Salinas Golf & Country Club) in Monterey boasts a reputation as "the friendliest club in the area." Opened in 1925, it's also known as one of the area's oldest clubs though they are loathe to label themselves as "traditional". The golf course sprawls across rolling countryside dotted with mature trees and the occasional water hazard. Originally opened as a nine-hole layout, the golf course may appear somewhat short at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. It's a tight layout that demands accuracy, especially when navigating the small greens. There is plenty of variety at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch, you may even find yourself using all the clubs in your bag. The golf course finishes with a stunning view of Salinas Valley from an elevated tee. The fairway slopes downhill to a well protected green guarded on the left with trees and on the right with bunkers.

Crazy good golf
Course was in great shape, wicked fast greens. Will play again soon!
First Visit
I read some good comments on the course, so I decided to try it on my way back from Monterey. To my surprise, the course lived up to the comments. It's well maintained, and the course reminds me of an older type of course with tree lined fairways, etc. Look forward to visiting the course on my next trip to the area.

Had a good time playing this course again. Condition at the course were in great shape. The weather was a bit windy but not bad at all. Can't wait to go back.

Nice course, but some frustration
The tee boxes, fairways, greens all in very good shape. The fringes around some of the greens were absolutely perfect. Several elevation changes and beautiful views. My only complaint is lack of information. No pictures on the scorecard or at the tee box providing a layout of the hole. Yardage not clearly marked at all. Several times I wondered where to go to find the next hole, and ended up in the path of other players shots. The course itself was beautiful, in very good condition, a great value for the money. Nice bar/restaurant and friendly service. My only complaint is the layout/logistics which were confusing since it was my first time playing the course.

Although the greens were recently punched they were still decent and will be amazing when they're cured

Course was in good condition,well kept up but GPS on carts. Hurry and play this course before it becomes private again.

Easy to Enjoy a Round Here
I have played this course numerous times in the past year and every single time I play it, I wonder why I don't play it more often. It is fair, the staff is friendly, the food and service from the restaurant are fantastic. Yes, there are plenty of courses to choose from in this area, but I leave this course with the same reminder of why I love this game so much.
