Place Has Gotten Worse Over the Years

I used to love playing Tecolote, but this was my first time back in a few years. The Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in absolute shambles. Would have rather played from the rough in most cases.

When I checked in the person at the front failed to mention half the course was shut down, not sure why they were taking reservations for 18-holes

Beer cans left along the course, nobody fixes divots anywhere on the course, dead rat on the green at hole 6, etc.

It's cheap and still had a good time with friends, but we will not be playing here again.

Course is only 9 holes but still worth it

Booked a hot deal for $20 and the course was half closed. It was still worth the money just played nine holes twice. The greens are in great shape., Tea boxes, and bunkers need extreme help.

Worst round all year

Horrible day there. Paid for 18, 88 dollars for two people. The staff booked way too many groups when they only have 9 holes open due to a sewer line being put in. Tried to go back to get a refund and they wouldn’t. 20 minutes to tee off on each hole. Marshall cant speed anyone up and was rude about us even asking. Funniest thing was after I tried to get refunded for 9 holes the staff followed me to my car and tried to convince me I only paid for 9 holes. Buddy tried to tell me my 88 dollars was only for 9 holes. Eprst round all year won’t be back.

Played a quick 9 this past weekend and course is absolutely cooked, greens are okay but for the price is not worth it.

Guy up front was nice enough to let my friend have his lady ride along but said “we don’t don’t allow riders but I’ll let it slide this time” otherwise he’d have to pay not a riders fee but the same price we did almost 50$ again stupidly overpriced. Should be charging $20 at most to play…. Torrey pines doesn’t even charge for a rider/spectator but thanks for “letting it slide” I guess lol

Great course but terrible tee boxes and sand traps

For what they charge here at least have sand in your traps and fix every tee box. All tee boxes are nothing but sparse grass and dirt. What a shame.

Also it doesn’t matter what I write. They won’t do anything anyway.

Most balls lost in a single course

Challenging course with very unforgiving fairways. Little forgiveness means lots of lost balls. Course is in rough shape but the back 9 is in good conditions. Greens play a bit slow for my taste.

Poor Conditions and pricey

Par 3 course but in really difficult shape. Tee boxes were terrible. Either hard as a rock (dirt) or overgrown with dead grass/weeds. For the price, should expect a decent layout and upkeep. Seems like they're was very little done to it.

Pretty Far Gone

Been probably 50 times.. it’s always been rough and good practice but the conditions are brutal these days. Cart paths are rutting and running away beyond recognition, can’t find a spot of grass on some tee boxes, a few greens you’re better off chipping.. it’s got so much potential and is such good practice. I would love to see it do better for itself.

Needs to Step Up Maintenance

Tecolote Canyon has been one of my favorite San Diego course for decades. Played last week and was disappointed by the course condition. It was every raggedy. Could barely get a tee in the ground as tee box ground is very hard. Grass brown and dying in areas. Marshall was very bossy and unfriendly. I'm going to give it a rest and try again later in the summer because I do like the course layout.

Issues

There was no water jugs with water. there were 2 empties that we came across. No cart people with snacks like before. The smallest bag of tees cost over eight dollars.
