A course with unique challenges
Tecolote Canyon was in good condition this day. Green fairways and smooth greens.
Tecolote Canyon has unique features like narrow fairways and difficult curves and turns. The narrow fairways present challenging conditions that reward control. the greens this day were running quick but fair. The bunkers had water in them, probably from recent watering of the greens.
Course layout
Although it's a short course and layout is challenging to sharpen your chips and putts.
Not recommended
This is a really short par 3 course with a few par 4s and no par 5s. Pretty poorly maintained and definitely not worth the price that they charge. The driving range doesn’t allow drivers.

Great little executive course, especially for what you pay. Beautiful little course thats tucked away w/ challenging narrow fairways
Fun place for your short game
Great place for your short game. Greens were in excellent condition. Only took 2.5 hours to complete all 18 holes, tee time was 6:30 am.
Hidden gem
This course is tucked away but completely worth the search.
Great greens, the rest...
For an Executive, you must have great greens. Thankfully, Tecolote did not disappoint. They were in great shape. Disappointed with the condition of the fairways on the par 4's - they were pretty barren. Maybe sounds harsh, but I remember them in better shape. The tee boxes were sandy and uneven. Tough to find a flat spot for both man and ball. Still, it's all about the greens and they rolled true. Great value and always a great time.

Can't beat the price. Tee boxes and greens are in great shape. The fairways need work. Excellent staff, very friendly.
Interesting
Lived in SD for 35 years...heard about this little course from time to time. Always wondered. Kind of an obscure location, but easy enough to navigate.
Have to say, everyone; everyone, staff, other players, in/out of shop were very friendly. Like being at a small, midwestern course...actually was a very pleasant.
Course fairways in mediocre shape....dry, but playing Winter rules alleviated 90% of issue. Fun, little layout. Greens recently punched, but pretty decent. Can tell they would ‘normally’ be quick, challenging.
Simply put, a great value for the $$....keeping that in mind, you will have a nice time
