Nice pay nice greens. Good time 🤌🏼
Grass here will never be great but ive played here 10 times and this is the best ive seen it.
Shoot straight, bring extra balls
Fun course, challenging course, pretty scenery. Definitely being extra balls unless you’re a confident golfer. You will likely loose a few balls unless you can consistently shoot very straight. Overall pretty unique and fun course through the canyon.
Challenging and fun!
Tecolote has been a top favorite for me in San Diego county. It's a challenging, narrow, par-3 course that nearly confirms you'll be losing balls at some point within your time playing. I truly enjoy this course not only for the MUCH cheaper price of 18holes vs. most other San Diego courses, but for the kind and considerate players I've typically found while playing there. Pace of play is great, most of the time, and no matter what it's always a challenging course for me and I love it.
Wouldn’t recommend to anyone
Manager, Jonah, is just lazy and rude. Untrained staff at the front desk. Greens were okay, that was the only upside. Maintenance workers and random people in carts and cars were driving by. Backed up on every hole. Don’t bother if it’s going to cost you more than 15 to play.
Course Conditions Improving...
It's been sometime since I played at Tecolote Canyon and I am pleased to report some positive changes going on.
I noticed that several trees being cut back, many of the fairways are green as apposed to dirt, some new stairs to a few tee boxes, and it looks like they are maintaining what they have a little better as well as working to make improvements to the course.
Things to Address: #1 Fix or rebuild the Tee Boxes, Edge the Greens (crabgrass growing from first cut into the greens) Take care when replacing pin holes on greens (several replaced holes were much lower than the green)
I played here a few years ago and I thought they made some improvements but not
Lost six balls on the fairway course need some TLC. It would not play again more value for your money if you play the other San Diego executive courses, Mission Bay or balboa.
It’s a Par 3 course (kinda)
I should’ve done more homework on the course but I had just rolled into town and was desperate to play somewhere not terribly expensive. To my surprise, I found out the course is mostly par 3s. BTW, San Diego likes to gouge visitors and tourists with “non-resident” green fees. Not sure what the logic is but we don’t do that in the south. Most holes are par 3s except for 3 or 4 of them…and even those are short 4s. I also noticed most people didn’t repair their divots or ever heard of a ball mark repair tool. I spent a lot of time repairing the greens. If you want to just work on your short game then it’ll get the job done.
Hahahahah, seems more of a personal problem than a golf course problem, I play here weekly and rarely lose balls. Maybe you should stay in on the range and practice more. Don’t blame the golf course because you suck.
