Hidden Gem
The best 9 hole course in SF. Amazing layout with tricky greens, and fun course overall.
Thank you for the FIVE STAR review!! We hope to see you again.
Not for the Faint of Heart....
This is Not an easy course! Hilly surroundings make for shot selection and accuracacy a most on many holes-you can hit the fairway, only to have it roll off to the edge. Mature trees line all fairways and can easily come into play. Fairway conditions are average at best, but the greens are almost perfectly good! The greens are what make this course, they are fast, smooth, and takes some course knowledge.
This is a true 9 hole golf course; 6 par 4's, 2 par 3's and 1 par 5. The hilly conditions make it play longer, and can be a tough walk(be prepared).
Pace of play has always been good, because the majority of players are regulars...newbies be warned, this is NOT for beginners...being able to hit straight is a MOST.

Thank you for the great FOUR STAR review. You obviously know the game of golf as you accurately and without varnish explained what Gleneagles is all about. We know that we're a little scruffy but that's what makes this place such a surprise when you show up and just get whipsawed by the confines. Local tip: all putts break towards the Cow Palace--unless they don't.
Average golfer
The tee boxes are less than desirable, the fairways need help as well and the greens are like putting on Pool tables. Its amazing that I can come here and shoot a 54 with 24 putts and the next day go to an average 18 hole course and shoot an 85 with average conditions. Sorry but this is not the Hidden Jewal spoken about in the press.
Ok, just want to focus on this reviewer's description of our greens "are like putting on Pool tables."
Thank you very much.
Thanks for the great review, we appreciate your business.
Tough course
I thought it was gonna be easy to beat, I was totally beaten!
Friendly staff
Love this place. Very friendly staff. My hubby and I enjoyed our time there this afternoon.
Bring every club you have!
When I first got to the course I asked a guy next to me in the parking lot if I needed to bring my driver and he said bring every club you have and more!
The course is very hilly and challenging and plays very long. Since you will be walking you will get a very good workout.

Course is in improving shape-fairways, greens are outstanding, true fast and tough. Not an easy track by any means, whether playing from blue tees or yellows (2nd set of tee boxes to make an interesting 18 out of this 9 hole course). Well worth visiting regularly. Staff is helpful and friendly even if you’re not a regular
Looks are deceiving
At first glance, looking down several fairways from the clubhouse, it looked like a mini Presidio with mature, grand cypress trees and emerald green fairways. The employee working at the clubhouse warned me that the course is in rough shape. He wasn’t kidding! The fairways were a carpet of mixed grasses, weeds and large dirt patches. There were areas that looked more like hiking trails. The greens were fast as glass. The bunkers were more dirt than sand. However, the layout of the course was nice, even though very hilly, and again, it looked pretty. Wasn’t there to keep score, but rather enjoy the walk and the surprise of where the ball will roll this time and whether or not I’ll be able to find it. Recommend a colored ball as there are many white flowers in the fairways and finding a white ball is difficult. It would be a real gem if it were in better shape!
Fantastic Staff but the course??
My first time at this course. Beautiful scenery , great staff and well laid out. Fairways were winter conditions and often muddy. Greens were sloped and fast. It was a challenging course but I will definitely go again.

Once again Gleneagles in McLaren Park did not disappoint. This a challenging, demanding course.
The course is in great shape, the fairways included. The greens remain arguably the best greens in the Bay Area, and certainly in San Francisco -Harding included!
Super friendly staff and course pup-George.
We’ll be back, this is truly a diamond in the rough of a course!
Fun course!
Don't let this 9-Hole course fool you. This course was challenging. Make sure you are ready to walk some hills—amazing views of the bay.
Thank you for the FIVE STAR review! We are so glad you enjoyed this golf course as much as we do.
