Great day
It was a beautiful day in San Francisco, my two Son in laws and I drove down from San Jose. It was both of the first times golfing and one is from Florida and the other from Philadelphia but I thought that they would like to see the Golden Gate and ocean views.
The day was like a clear summer day, I, myself have only been playing for a year, still a hacker but I enjoy playing different courses, had a few good shots but our best shots were with our camera.... we did not keep score being this was their first time playing. We never held anyone up because we just played best ball just for the experience and to share a little bonding time. On the 7th hole my son in law hit a drive high and straight and landed 4 feet from the pin he was ecstatic as we all were.
I plan on returning with a foursome to play this course again, it’s challenging yet very walkable and the views are incredible. I guess you could say We had a great time.
Enjoyed it other then walking because the carts were $32 each and the round was $48
I would have given 5 stars for everything but we walked the course because the carts were nearly as much as the green fees. Some of the holes had real lengthy distances to travel between and the hills made carrying a bag a bit tiresome. Id like to say id play the course again, but when the cart fee nearly doubles the cost of the round, Its hard to justify.
Other then that, the views were gorgeous, the pace of play was perfect, the staff was great and the course layout had enough chances to attack it to make it real fun.
There were a couple random people that appeared to just be practicing on one of the holes on the back 9 which lead to little delay as we thought they were playing the hole. After a way to long of a break we just played though,
Improvements
Like most Golf courses needs a grounds crew that take pride in making the greens & Bunkers in the best playing condition possible on a daily basis !
Lincoln Park
Wonderful public track with some of the most magnificent views in the Bay Area. A couple of greens sloped more than I’d have liked. The 16th and 17th are daunting 250 yard par 3’s. But who doesn’t like hitting driver off the tee on a par 3? Great track for the price, the views alone are with the price to play.
The course is very poorly maintained, especially the greens. There are also lots of delays in play because of hikers and runners on the course.
Very muddy.
Does not drain well
Pros: Top 10 Views of SF!
I walkable course, no carts available
This course is extremely "hilly" and is not a walkable course. The attendant at the check-in told me that they only have 4 carts and they only allow them to be used once a day (they don't clean and re-use them throughout the day due to covid). Basically they force you to walk an unwalkable course.
Lincoln Park Last Time
Tee Off: 4 pm December 22
Temp: 50 degrees
Greens: Soft
Fareways: Muddy
Holes: Front Nine
Spectacular Views. Challenging course, uneven lies, must adjust to the slope. Random hikers and tourists to contend with at holes 3-5. Coyotes lurking about.
Played two days in a row. Four birdies total. High handicapper.
