Very beautiful course
Price was 150$. Beautiful course, staff was friendly, range was great, no wait time on a Sunday morning was great, overall great experience. I will be back
Rough Greens
I know the course is only one week out of overseed so can’t expect it to be in excellent condition… However while fairways and tee boxes were very good, the greens are terrible…. They are very rough and impossible to keep a ball on line. Course probably shouldn’t have opened until greens filled in better.
We used a Troon card 2 for 1 today so only cost $85 for two of us… But without that deal, wait a couple of more weeks until greens get better ..
Beautiful track
Greens were still filling in so a few weeks away from being in great condition. Nice course, offers challenges to all levels, beautiful facility and nice staff.
Great course tee to green
Just over one week away before overseeding and course was in great shape. Undulating greens and some challenging pin placements are a good test of skills despite the slope rating. Will definitely repeat !
The staff is amazingly friendly! Kudos to the whole staff who treat you like a member when you’re only paying $65. Yes, the greens are very undulating but roll true. The rest of the course is in immaculate condition, especially for September in Phoenix. Only downfall is you’ll need mosquito spray. But totally worth it
Ridiculous Nicklaus greens
Very interesting new community.
Quality of the turf was up to PGA National.
The only issue is the greens, Ridiculously ondulated with pin placement in impossible places.
It is your course if you want mini-put greens.
Great property
Nothing to say about the entire place. Very nice. Up to the nicest place in Florida. The only issue are the greens. Superb conditions, but small, ridiculously undulated and shave all around.
What a disappointment
I was so looking forward to this course. For $ 55.00 bucks plus taxes and fees you would think it would have been in good shape. NOPE. I can get better course conditions for $ 25.00 bucks at the Legacy Golf Resort.
The layout is nice but some of the design elements do not make any sense to me. A lot of the greens are shaved on 3 sides and then the 4th side is steeply shaved slope that goes into the dirt or rocks. This is going to really slow play down when they get busy.
The greens were very bumpy and the fairways were below par. Lots of areas of spotty grass.
I will NOT be back for a year or two. They are not going to have the course conditions fixed until then.
I'd play here again
Staff was excellent. Great fairways & tee box's. Greens were challenging & fun, but the condition wasn't as good as other Troon courses I've played. However, the course is fairly new. Overall, a great experience
Worth it
I have heard about this course from many other people. I was not disappointed. Greens were in good condition. Fairways were nice. Played with two members that gave me tips on where to play the ball. I enjoyed the round and hopefully will play it again.
Sterling Grove
I play a lot of Troon managed courses. This course was up to the Troon standard. Tees, greens and fairways were well above standard. The only negative I could say is about 3 holes had the cup place on/near slopes that could be challenging to a higher handicap, but I’m being nit picky. Probably should play this course sooner than later because it will go private at some point in the future.
Excellent
First time at Sterling Grove and I had a great time. The course is less than two years old, and in very good shape. A lot of bunkers (84 to be exact), with a lot of very challenging approach shots. Fairways were in immaculate shape, and the greens were very nice and rolled relatively slow. I went shortly after they had aerated so it was a bit of a bumpy ride on some greens. Only con would be all the construction going on in the area since they are still building the community surrounding the course. It gets pretty loud because of that. Also, there are no ball washers on the course, which I thought was odd. Overall, it’s a very nice course, and I’m hoping to make it out a few more times before they go full private in the next few years.
It's also Legacy.. a trash course in the eyes of tournament golfers wonder why it's priced cheaper?
