Great Eagle Golf Club

About
Great Eagle Golf Club, rated one of the most affordable golf courses in Arizona, is a championship course in the West Valley. Although it has a traditional design there are several unique and challenging elements that come into play such as undulating mounds that cause uneven lies and well-guarded greens. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course offers three sets of tee boxes so that there is some flexibility regarding levels of challenge, but overall the course is suitable for any player. The Great Eagle Golf Club, in addition to the course, also offers both a chipping green and a putting green.

Course was in decent shape
I thought that the course was in decent shape for the time of the year. The winter rye is starting to die off a bit so you have some patches of fairway that are turning colors. The only issue I have with this and all public played courses in AZ is the bunkers. Please add sand to them and have your staff rake them every morning. It really is embarrassing that we live in a desert and we have courses that have no sand in the traps.
Failed Experiment
So we have decided to try different golf courses around Phoenix to change it up some. I found this course on Golfnow.com and figured why not. Well the people there were friendly enough so that was nice. The course however, needs some serious attention. I don't believe the greens have been cut or rolled in at least a week so you really had no idea what your putt was going to do. The forward tees had you standing on uneven ground and usually below your ball. The fairways were "ok" but if you have a wayward shot, good luck finding your ball. The golf carts are from the late 80's to possibly the early 90's and reflect it. Our golf partner's cart died on the 13th hole and it took them 45 minutes after 3 phone calls to bring out a new cart. That was unacceptable! So as my title states, this was a failed experiment. On to the next one.
worn out dog of a course
from the start, the cart is in terrible condition, brakes almost gone, sticky pedal hard to make it lock in place, uncomfortable jolt when starting out- zero for cart. fairways, front nine have so many bare or hard-pan spots, back nine a little better. Sand, What sand? concrete-like crunchy hard compacted like quarter minus, couldn't get under the ball if you tried. no footprints or hint you were ever there even at the divot spot. Greens? Slowest i've ever played in my life. Lawn mower guys! Cart paths- broken, cracked, rotting, falling apart, bumpy miserable ride. stay on the grass and go slow to save your lower back. How about the surrounding rough?- everything is dead or dying. But nice pictures of plastic pink flamingos and trinkets proudly displayed by the trailer park residents can be had, so bring your camera. It's like an adventure down the oldest part of route 66. actually kind-of quaint and rusty in that respect. So if you ever want to have a totally difficult time on an old and falling apart golf course that is almost not maintained at all, this is for you. I wouldn't play again for free. Not upset or trying to trash the reputation of this course, they're doing a fine job without my help. Just being honest.
I’m sure this course was great in its day.
I’m sure this course was in great shape at one time but with all the trailer and local people who want a good price it has gone downhill. The greens were slow the tee boxes were bare and the course was poorly maintained. I will not play it again and will not recommend it to my golf buddies. Sorry☹️
Much better than last seadon
We live in Happy Trails facing 12th green. We loved our play tiday. Relaxed, but challenging.
Thick Greens
Overall, the course is in the best shape in years!! The Fairways were Green and lush, but the greens were a little too thick. Once they cut them down, it will be good.
We enjoy the Bar, great food and service!!
Fun but rough ride!
Fun course but the cart path is awful if there is one.
Very bumpy ride! Course and club could definitely use some updating.
poor quality, beyond slow
Course has been run down for years. For some slow practice before going to a real golf course Ok. only worth max of $30 per round. Had to skip a hole as beyond slow.
4 hours flat, can't beat that!!!
Fun day
Good mobile home course
Nice slow greens. Good pace of play. Need better signage. Friendly peeps.
