San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

San Juan Hills Golf
San Juan Hills is a very nice course, I golf here about once a month. The only down side was they had just punched the greens, so putting was a little off
Scam
Would be nice if you would notify us if they only have 9 holes open and that they r pluging the greens
Love this place
Probably my favorite course right now. Really tough greens, separates the men from the boys.
Well worth the money
A course that is played heavily but good value. Staff and food are really good with great outdoor patio, etc.
Very fast greens
Overall good experience.
LIke the fact that they don't have you tee off on first hole to the group ahead of you tee off.
We did have a very slow group ahead of us and the marshall did talk to them twice and made them pick up.
Wish more courses had the guts to do this.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
I have played San Juan Hills several times, on several occasions so it is not without saying it was not a fluke that this happened to me. I live close by, the course is challenging in the respect that it is a new track, lots of water and trouble. Like the layout. The problem which is and has always been, their inability to stop the tee times and stop over filling the course beyond capacity.
they let off foursomes mix matched, t-shirts with real golfers every 8 minutes. they are ALWAYS behind on tee times. Avoid this course at all costs, I don't care how good the deal looks, the pace of play and the inability to just book normal t-times and keep playing moving is their downfall.
I will not play this course again unless it is in a tournament play.
AVOID SJH at all costs.
This course is nice-but so slow
Many holes on the course are under repair? The greens are in good shape. My main complaint is that I had to wait 10-15 per hole to tee off on the front 9. I had an 8:40 tee time and things were so slow. I will never play this course on a weekend ever again!
Course still needs a lot of repair
Returned after a week, fairways still have barren and bare spots, especially on the front nine. Greens are in good condition and were extremely fast on the front nine. slower on the back.
Staff is one of the friendliest in the County.
Pace of play is always slow. Lots of elderly and distracted golfers
Start early
Start time was 25 min after tee time due to course being backed up (tee time was 12:56). Based on the gps in the cart we were exactly 1 hour behind the pace of play by the 11th hole (3 hours into the round).
Fun course with friendly staff, but start early to finish.
Slowwwwwwwwwww
If I had one major criticism it is that they overbook and don't space out their tee times enough. The course is always in good shape but I've never finished a round in under 5 hours. This last visit was terrible and I ended up waiting about five minutes in between every shot. Hard to stay loose and in rhythm with that much waiting around. Speed it up!!!!!
Bad start
The was my first time playing this course in many years. The starter got everything screwed up, really nice gentleman however lost control of the tee box and it was mass confusion. As far as the course goes its a fun track, not very long, in the kind of shape you would think it would be for a $29 special. Needs some help in the fairways, greens in good shape just difficult to read? Pretty quick and playing a few times with local knowledge would certainly help! Pace of play was 4:45 minutes, good thing my group was really fun and good. On conversation.
I typically play Tijeras creek, Monarch beach. Strawberry farms or Oak creek, this course is not at that level however when you want a fun cheap date his will work. :)
Good greens
Nice weather, good greens, good food, nice enough staff.
3 hr 15 min front nine!
Slowest play ever! Course is fun, too many bunched up groups. Over 5 1/2 hours to get around. Only reason faster on back was that several groups in front of us gave up and quit due to slow play, we got to tee on a par 5 on back that had 3 groups in front of us waiting!
Way to long
We started at 1:00 pm they tell you stay up with the group in front of you and you do and you can't go any where just there and wait. The group behind us was nowhere in site so we slowed down what a drag we lost two guys on the turn got to no: 13 par5 pared it and that was it 4:30pm we left.
Quick greens and a great day
Once I mastered the greens on the back nine, I walked away a very happy man. Lovely course and a few of the holes mid-way through the back nine were truly spectacular. Highly recommend.
Brutally Slow
The course is an interesting and scenic layout. The greens were lightning fast with lots of undulation, very challenging to the flat stick. The pace of play was BRUTAL! Tee'd off Sunday at 1pm and only got 14 holes in due to darkness. I love golf but golf courses need to figure this problem out. It is really hard to have a relaxing round when the pace of play is that slow. I will not play there on a weekend again, not worth the risk of a 5 hour round for 14 holes!
San Juan Hills Play
Crowded and slow play. Could not complete 18 holes because of sunset.
Good challenging course
First 10 holes go uphill the next few come fownhill . Chalennging and a beautiful course. A few holes are wasy to play. Course is always busy in the afternoon and it has good views.
Inexpensive mediocre course
Decent conditions, except the greens were pretty beaten up and every hole had a county course mound around them from players feet, it took over 5 hours to finish because there was no danger to speed up the pace of play
