San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

A FUN COURSE WITH GREAT GREENS
I got a good price for an early tee time on GolfNow, so I made the drive down to San Juan Hills. The layout here is pretty friendly. Condition from tee to green was good, but the greens were excellent. It was really a fun day.
Overall fair experience!
Very slow play today. There was a group of 20 in front of us that slowed up play for the entire round. There we time when 3 groups were backed up. Never saw a marshal to help speed up play. Our round took 5 1/2 hours.
Overall the new staff is very friendly.
great course
I really enjoyed my round,.. and saved a ton with golf now discount
because you wanted to know
The only problem with my round was my score. The coarse was in good shape and the crew was right on track. Nice day!
Great value for the money and the condition of the golf course!
Best price in Orange county and best greens in the area!!
Slow!
This is a beautiful area, weather is good, perfect time to play a round of golf. On top, we got a very good deal from GolfNow.com. Unfortunately, we had a super slow group in front of us, we had to wait 5-10 minutes on every single hope except 17 and 18 after the course Marshall warned them to pick it up. Overall it is a nice course and will come back again(hopefully not with a slow group in front).
Never again
Played Friday afternoon and quit after 9 holes because it took almost 3 hours. We had long waits on every hole.
The course itself is old and tired.
Don't play here
Played Friday afternoon and quit after 9 holes because it took almost 3 hours. We had long waits on every hole.
The course itself is mediocre at best.
tougher than you think
Looking at the score card on line may lead you into believing that SJH is relatively easy, not true. There are uneven lies on just about every fairway not to mention the elevation changes on just about every hole. Several water hazards and the wind in the afternoon make this course a real test. Note: greens were very fast and missing on the wrong side on a few of them are a guaranteed 3 jack.
really nice course
nice course and add a extra club to greens but must be good with your putter
solid course
the layout of this course is amazing. really cool views and interesting topography. course conditions are pretty bad due to high-traffic and dry summer. will look forward to coming back in the winter.
Public course
The greens were in good shape, ball rolled well; however many ball marks were not repaired. The fairways were thin and spotty and not well manicured. The pace of play was very good for a public course. We were a twosome and were paired with two young men who were very pleasant to play with.
San Juan Hills
Challenging course. Very firm and fast greens. Play was very slow (waited on every Tee Box) because of a tournament. Great value although previous groups never repaired their pitch marks.
Great Time!
One of the best municipal courses in Southern California
Sunday golf at SJH
Had a fun round. Greens were fast and pace was good. Will be back!
Fun course but too slow
Yes, it was Saturday afternoon but 5:10? A little ridiculous. Course is fun, though, some really good holes, not too difficult and not long. Good greens, fairways, and tees.
Slow pace on weekend
The first few holes are very elevated which makes scoring difficult right off the bat. After that things level out a bit more. The course is in good shape minus a few patches of dead grass in the fairways. The pace was brutal... Teed off at 4pm and got through 13 holes by 8pm. Had to call it quits for my own sanity.
Overall - excellent
This course is at the top of my list for affordable golf in Orange County. The conditions of the course couldn't get much better. Greens are all in great shape. Layout is challenging yet not overbearing.
Ocean breezes make playing even in the sun very comfortable. Friendly staff and great course marshalls.
Excellent course, great staff & beautiful clubhouse & bar & grill.
The San Juan Hills is a scenic backdrop for this medium length course that plays long. Beautifully maintained & ample fairways are forgiving enough, but the well manicured greens are fast. Plenty of shade with nice mature trees that line the fairways. Well designed with a few elevated tees & elevation changes. The 19th Hole grill had delicious food & good quaffs. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff for the golf & the grindage. Excellent place.
