San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

It Doesn't Get Much Prettier In The Morning
San Juan Hills is spectacular in the early morning. The views are stunning. It's not Pebble Beach but it will do in a pinch. There are some rough patches here and there, on the fairways, but the greens are good as gold. The greens keeper is doing a fantastic job, so cudos to him.
The staff if friendly, the greens are great and weather is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. That makes for a great day on San Juan Hills Golf Course.
Nice course and close to ocean
The first 8 holes the pace was average but by the 9th it was backed up and we went to the 10th hole and doubled back to play the first 9 again because of the wait time.
Hilly Course
Fun Outing with friends. Course can be challenging to some golfers
GREENS IN GREAT SHAPE
The course was in great shape- especially the greens. No crowds and friendly staff
This course has great features
My Wife and I played this course and we enjoyed the course very much the greens and fairways were in good conditions, the staff was super friendly
Slow Play
There was a 5 some 2 groups ahead of us who held up play greatly. They only played 9 holes so back 9 was more pleasurable. Feel either 5 somes should not be allowed or ranger should make them move at an acceptable pace. Also, on hole 15 where there is a pond, a family of 4 was fishing and they were in the line of flight for my second shot. I am not good enough to guarantee not hitting them. Had to alter my shot to be safe.
San Juan Hills Golf Club
short, hilly course par 71. fairways are always beat up. don't know if it's too expensive to have green fairways? approach shots are difficult with uphill shots and bunkers protecting greens. driving range across the street not convenient. driving range needs remodeling too. all in all, a challenging course at a fair price.
Needs work
Fairways were trash. Greens were bumpy. The course layout is awesome. If they put some money into the course it would be one of the best in Orange County.
Couldn't apply promo code
Was disappointed I could use my birthday promo code when I booked tee time on golf now
Friendly & Fast
Had a great time, played in 3.5 hours. Showed up early and were allowed to go off before the scheduled time. Nice guys in the pro shop
Aerified
It would be nice if Golfnow would have posted the aerification alert on time. Didn't know the greens had been punched until morning of play. It wasn't posted at time of booking.
Best for the money
This is a gem in southern Cal, located in beautiful San Juan Capistrano. The course is wrapped around a very pleasant and peaceful housing community. This course is challenging enough to the avid golfers enjoying rolling hills. Only one surprise at the par 3 hole on 18, this could make a late bottleneck. Will be back for sure.
Great Course
Spent a nice afternoon on the links. Course was in gray shape!
Slow play Over pay
Lay out is great, greens are great, shop staff seems nice, resteraunt staff is ok, the marshals are non existent, beverage cart girls have no etiquette. Can't believe how much they think the course is worth. Every time I play there it is a 5-6 hour round. Tee boxes need work as well as some tee boxes and bunkers are horrible. Let time I played there the rates were fair, I'm done.
It's nice.
Every green has 2 bunkers in front of it.
Good place to play weekend.
Outsiders Beware!
Booked a company round at this course, one of the guys got the flu and couldn't make it, you would think we committed high treason! Fully disgruntled front desk guy threatened to charge for the missing fourth! Really? Because $200 for the round and the additional $100 for food and drinks wasn't enough? All in all a pretty poor ambassador for the course and game. Course was fair with many tee boxes leaving a lot to be desired. Greens were good.
yes, he managed to stick a single with us as well.
Nice Course
Played well the second time out. Not enough drink cart encounters. Only saw her once, but the bar is to die for.
A Gem
I haven't played this track in 5+ years. I'm so stoked I booked it. I will play this track much more often now that its in the condition its in. Awesome, awesome, awesome. The greens were great. The groundskeeper was on the course watering and he was so friendly, its refreshing. I'm bringing the boys I usually play with to this Gem in San Juan.
Fun and challenging course
This place was awesome. It started off great with the staff driving a golf cart out to you as you park. I would play here again.
So Much Better
I had not played San Juan Hills in years and when I was invited to play I was hesitant because of when I played there a long time ago. The course we awesome, the greens were some of the best in the OC. The new clubhouse is amazing, after our round we had a great lunch and some laughs in the new Sports Bar. Even when I got there, a nice you man helped me with my bag and took me to the Golf Shop to check in. I look forward to playing there again, a all around great day...
