San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

Has a good variety of elevations
I enjoyed the round even though it took over 5 hrs to play 18. I felt the course was pretty well maintained and had similar conditions throughout. Good place to spend a day not to play a quick round.
Nice course
First time players and enjoyed the course.....challenging but not crazy. Course is in good condition compared to other courses in so cal.....with our current drought conditions and all....
Would play again......nice friendly staff.....could smell the food from the resturant.....smelled great but we had to pass......will definitely return.......
Course review
Course condition was fair, greens were good shape, pace of play reasonable, enjoyed the day very much with good company. Very good price for Saturday play
Course and greens in good shape
We played at 2 pm, had one bottle neck on number 8 otherwise pretty wide open. The greens were well maintained, green and a little soft. This allowed the balls to stop but they were a little bumpy because of the golf shoes late afternoon etc, but understandable. The fairways had some dry spots, but reasonable given the water restrictions. Over all we thought the course was in very good condition considering the water issues.
SJHGC
The pace of play is slow but overall a good course for the price on golfnow.com. The staff is above average and the greens are in good shape.
Rob's Review
Moderately challenging course in the rolling San Juan Capistrano Hills,. Excellent greens and beautiful vistas. A great value for the money!
Good course for south OC
Played here about 12 times and it is what it is. A solid course that plays fairly easy but has a few difficult holes.
staff friendliness
I like person to front desk . He is very friendly making to happy befor tee.
great coarse
San Juan Hills has done a great job on the remodel of the clubhouse and the coarse is in great shape. The staff is helpful and friendly. Had a great round.!
Nice course in San Juan Capistrano
This course is very well kept and very quiet and beautiful. It can sometimes get crowded but we went out on the 4th of July and it was a good pace of play with a nice breeze from the ocean to keep things cool even though the weather was warm. They have recently renovated the clubhouse and restaurant so it looks fabulous.
Nice, fun course
Came for very late twilight on July 4th. The course was pretty empty by then so not really sure how the normal pace of play would be. Course is beautiful and moderately challenging. There are some narrow fairways on the back nine and a few blind tee shots. The PAR 3s are all pretty fun.
Staff was friendly and carts were in good condition with GPS. Greens were a bit bumpy though, lots of un-repaired divots.
Not a good walking course. There are some long distances between holes.
Excellent
After reading all the reviews I was a little on the defensive side.
Tee time 1.04 teed off just in time.
Staff friendly and very organized.
Restrooms very well located on the course and there is a Mobil snak BEER shop.
My only complaint is 4 or 5 tees that are not leveled other than that very well worth the price for this course.
Forgot to mention there was a full house and we finished a little under 4.30 hrs.
I'm coming back.......
Great day
The course was fun and somewhat challenging on some holes. My husband and I enjoyed our weekly date and had lunch prior to play. The food was excellent but the service was a bit slow. However, I would recommend this course and food to my friends.
where are the marshalls?
poor pace of play and didn't see a marshall the entire front nine. public course that requires collared shirt for men. nice grill and facilities. most of staff very nice, but the manager is not exactly service/customer oriented.
@ Grampa's
Had a very nice day. Played terrible, but still a very nice day. Greens large, hard to read, beautiful shape. Fairways in very good shape.
Not a country club
Starter kept pro shop locked until official opening time with men standing outside who could have been shopping the pro shop. Starter turned away a few groups that wanted to play the back nine, because of a tournament which didn't start until 11am. then he readily gave out times to the regulars that came in a few minutes later. You hear heavy freeway traffic holes three through twelve. Fairway grass was way overdue for repair in many places and poorly maintained. Fairways looked worse than many muni courses. Other patrons and golfers were friendly and helpful. Bartender was A+. Low rating for traffic noise, poor grass quality, and unprofessional shop starter.
Nice greens bur very poor fairways
Required more than 5 hours to finished.... way too long. Groups are bunched and foursome in fromt was more than one hole behind. Course Marshall appeared at hole 16 and advised the group in front to speed up but really too late as we're almost finishing.
an awesome day on an awesome course
Played there yesterday with the fellas and was really impressed by the course and staff. The greens rolled excellent and the staff was on it. It was a little more expensive than where we normally play but whats a few bucks when you can have double the fun!!!!
Great new clubhouse
Very long round- improvements to the clubhouse were impressive
Thanks for the comments and we appreciate you coming out to play!
