San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

good day to golf
I was fortunate enough to get teed up with 3 great golfers, the weather was beautiful, the course challenging and fairly well maintained, the new clubhouse and bar area is impressive with their ability to open all the glass doors on a nice day facing the 18th, makes for a nice round of golf and a great 19th hole!
Thank You SJH
Yes if male
I said yes to recommend, but only if male. This course is not friendly to a typical woman of average driving distance of 150 yards or less. I played with my wife and giving a woman who normally plays the forward tees less than 10 yards advantage on a par 5 is ridiculous.
Crabgrass, slow play, hackers paradise....
If you enjoy crabgrass (everywhere), VERY slow play, basically no up keep of a course, this is the course for you. Even with the golf now discount offered at $45, I still feel like I over paid by $20. Only good things about this course is the restaurant and clubhouse. Will never play here again. Worst fairways I've played on in years... Worst part, the round was 5 hours 25 minutes.
Decent for the money.
Pace of play was slower that I have recently encountered, but the course was decent and the staff was very friendly and attentive! I would play there again.
Good overall condition a nice layout
Very attractive clubhouse and friendly staff in both the pro shop and the restaurant. The layout of the course is visually very nice and the course is fair and challenging for an average player. It is not a long track, so the more skilled and long players may find it too easy. The fairways and rough are very playable, but are a mixture including quite a bit of crabgrass. The greens are in great condition, accept the ball very well and run true. We all enjoyed the day and would definitely play here again.
Easy round
Other then complete SLOW play, this course lays out easy on the eye!
No real danger anywhere .
Nice layout and good mainatenance
It might be because of nice weather on the day I played, but it was so nice to play there. not really crowed and not bothered by anyone who was playing on other holes. worth it if you can get discount and pay less than $35.
Good rate, very slow play- 5 1/2 hrs!
Be prepared for the longest round in Sol Cal.
But, $38 for twilight is good value.
Green's in need of repair.
This is one of my favorite course. Greens are generally fast, which I preferred. However the greens where in need of repair.
$34 @ 6:56am tee time via GN.
I got a great rate for a very good course. Booked a single and joined a twosome. We finished 18 in under 4 hours. We were the second group out for the day. The hardest thing was battling the mid 30 degree weather for the first 90 minutes. So Cal should not be this chilly.
SJH has:
-good staff
-great layout/beautiful surroundings
-tons of elevated greens
-fast, fast, fast greens
-very nice 19th hole bar & grill
Will play again.
Always fun to play
Good course, front is easier than the back. Played with a friend that plays there a lot and she had a hole in one, now that's how you start off the new year.
Great Pro Shop staff
Staff at the pro shop are very friendly and accommodating. Teed off right on time that to me says the tee sheet is managed well by the staff. Good job!!!
Enjoyable and fun course except for 1 hole
Nicely maintained course, soft but fast greens. Enjoyable round, don't really understand why there were so many less than happy customers based on the Yelp reviews????
this course is nice maintained and fast greens how i like em
the course is good but it was a zoo not sure if its always like that or not tee time at 104 didnt get off till 145 and by 5 pm had only finished 12 holes pretty bad pace of play.only play here if u come early and like all elevated greens.
Always enjoy planning San Juan. It has length, dog logs, elevation, fairway traps, water. Pretty challenging course.
Very enjoyable day on the links. It was overcast all day but we got to play in less than 4 hours. The couse was in pretty good shape although some of the greens had some bad spots but the pin placements avoided most.
Good Location - Good Condition
The San Juan Hills golf course was in as good condition as it's ever been during our round. The greens were in great condition and very challenging - not a flat, straight roll on any of them - and fast.
Great weather, excellent pace of play (4 hours).
A little pricey at $75. Shop around for lower green fees and this would be a very good value.
New Clubhouse and restaurant are VERY nicely done. Drop in for lunch even if you're not golfing.
Challenging and beautiful course
The course has beautiful views, and with the re-seeding of early November 2012 taking hold, the greens and tees are terrific. The fairways are 8 out of 10 and getting better daily. Challenging with water, lots of sand, rolling fairways, and several elevated and slick greens.
Great Golf Course
Great Course and Great Staff. Bunkers need a little work though.

Liked the course and their restauarant & bar
Will definitely play again. I enjoyed the course and the layout
