Santa Barbara Golf Club

Tee boxes are hit or miss. Fairways are decent. Greens are slow to average. POP is average. The course is easy without many challenges. It's a great place to play if you're still learning or just want to get in some golf without wanting to throw your club 50 yards. The 19th hole is a must for your last stop. Everyone here, from the staff to the players, are extremely friendly. It's the reason why I keep coming back.

Staff is Great though and my Son and I had a good golfing experience.

Got a great rate on a GN HotDeal of $25 each including cart so took the attitude that if we weren't enjoying the course we'd lose nothing by finishing after nine holes. As it turned out the course and overall experience of SBGC was great. For a heavily played track it was in good condition and the greens were true and reasonably quick.

Previous reviews had criticised the staff's attitude but we found the Pro and starter very friendly and accommodating.. The range is a bit short and limiting and the range balls are awful but for getting the rust out of your swing it does the job.

Pace of play was poor to start with until a 4some who knew their way around decided to double back and repeat a couple of holes which led to a clear run in front of us and finished in under 4:15 which for a two ball in a mainly 4 ball field was fine.

Overall very happy for the $50 bucks spend.

the starter seemed friendly at first, but his attitude changed when we said we booked through golf now. we did get out eight minutes before our start time, but there were at least two twosomes going out that we could have joined and then a twenty minute wait before we got on the course.it is a fun course, the marshal could not have been nicer.

I was treated like a third rate citizen for getting a discounted teetime from golf now by the pro shop. They told me I had not paid when I had. The $30 clubs the rented me were not worth $30 at a garage sale. 15 year old Bazooka driver and 3 wood. No hybrid, 10 year old Nike irons missing the PW that was replace with a Titleist from 1998. Putter was no name that looked like it was drug behind a car on the highway. The grips were so worn and hard it was hard to even hold onto the sticks and grooves were smooth and packed with mud. . They also only had 12 clubs in the bag. The local college guys I played with were the only thing that made the round fun. Would have loved to had my sticks because the course was pretty. The staff is a joke and should be fired. This could be a really nice course if they had a good staff and cared at all, wich they don't. I will play somewhere else next time I am in town.

Played on a Friday mid-day on a great Hot Deal $26. Starter who also is running the pro-shop does a decent job getting foursomes off the first tee. Course was full so pace of play was slow with a 4.5 hour round. Biggest bummer was the condition of the greens and some of the fairways. Real dry and brown and bare spots in many places. Layout for a mini is interesting and plays as a Par 70. Saw drink girl once and the snack bar and dining area is nice with a great selection.

Course is in great shape despite the ongoing drought. Pace of play was great. Finished in less than 4 hours.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this course in Santa Barbara at a reasonable price, and in good playing condition. The staff was excellent and the restaurant, food, service and atmosphere was great. Made a real nice outing for us that day.

tricky greens, hard to read but in great shape. You need some knowledge of this course or you will shoot high numbers. Push it down the fairways, this is one course you want to stay in control.

Its a fun and decent little muni course. Greens are usually in great shape and it usually plays along pretty quickly. The biggest downside to the course is the driving range. Has to be the worst range I've ever seen or played. Its really that bad. So if you go, plan on not hitting balls or getting a good warm up as the mats, the stalls and the balls are not even worth your time. In fact, they’ll ruin your game they’re so bad!

There are a few funny holes but for the most part the course plays pretty fair. The Kikuyu can be a bit of a challenge to those who are not used to it as its a grabby and sticky turf that sucks the life out of many shots. You're not going to be running to many shots up onto the greens here, so carry the ball all the way to the hole!

I hear they're changing over management so hopefully the new team will improve the range and offer some much needed love to the course. It has the potential of being one of the best muni's in the state but its got a long, long way to go. If the management is reading this please replace the range. If you want to get kids into the game and more play, start there as people need and want a place to hit balls but its current state drives them and their money away.

If you are in Santa Barbara don't hesitate to play this community course. The greens are in excellent condition; they break to the ocean right. Due to the lack of water there are a few dry spots around the course but they have them well marked for free drops, something you rarely see at other courses. Don't let the shorter distance fool you as there are plenty of challenges. Fairways are a must with all the beautiful trees that abound. And the mountain (and some island) views are awesome. Maybe I'll see you there.

It was alright - will always be held up at Muni on weekends.

The course has been in great shape lately because of the recent rains. Enjoy, green were soft but fast.
The only issue I had was that they did not honor the reservation as I purchased it. I had to pay for the cart rental even if my receipt showed that it was included.
So it didn't turn out to be the greatest deal as advertised.

What can I say.....in 4.5 hours got through 14 holes. Too slow and too crowded. Still, a nice course and reasonably priced. Go early morning or weekday.

I thought the course was in very good shape for a municipal course. Even the sand traps were decent. Pay was a little slow, but not too bad. We finished in 4 1/2 hours. The price was great.

Very happy for the money, good practice course.
Was a bit slow but middle of the day it is expected.
