Nice Day
First time playing here.
I am happy to come back in the future.
Wide fairways.
Clean Tee boxes.
Walkable.
Nice golf carts.
Course was very wet. 1st and 9th holes were cart path only. Ball plugged multiple times through the round. Greens are fast. Very nice course and good layout. It was nice to play with someone that new the course since there are a few dog legs.
Good round of golf
Good condition for winter. Excellent layout. Great food and beer at restaurant! Professional service.
Soggy and slow
The greens were nice but that's about it. The bunkers were all hard packed mud. The fairway grass was long, almost indistinguishable from the rough. And it was WET. It hasn't rained much recently but the course was an absolute swamp. Mud everywhere, huge puddles, drives just landing and plugging in the fairway, etc. It was a joke.
We had to play the back nine twice because the front was so incredibly slow. One guy said it was his first time playing golf and everyone was acting like they had no concept of ready golf. Like they literally had no idea what that might mean.
wonderfull day
What a great course. the weather was perfect.I hadn't played the course in thirty years. The trees have grown alot. I did get to see quite a few of them. My only complaint is the grass in the fairways is a bit thin. The greens are fast which is great and the folks in the pro shop are very nice. I will be back
Respectable Municipal
I lived in Santa Rosa from 2006 to 2024. Played BVGC weekly. For a city owned & operated course it’s okay. With one caveat, if it’s a wet winter the course is pretty soggy.
If you are in good physical shape the mostly flat course is walkable. Take a push cart, Enjoy the exercise and the views. Lots of tall redwood trees line the fairways. If you drive your ball into the trees you will shout some of your favorite expletives while trying to escape forest jail. That’s part of the fun at BV.
Putting greens are big. Though many gently undulate and/or have level changes they never punish a well paced putt.
Restaurant food and bar are average at best. The outdoor patio view over the 10th tee box and long fairway is pretty.
Pro shop store has lots of merchandise. Items on sale are usually priced competitively. Pro shop employees are helpful.
Practice range is rubber Matt only. No grass tees. Locals like to smack their own shag balls, so a bucket from the dispenser might have several Pro V-1’s in it.
When I visit Santa Rosa, I try to plan for a round here with my old pals.
Not a winter course
The course was very wet and muddy and yet they charged the same amount to play. There was no indication of the course conditions on Golf Now when I booked. They sent me an email an hour before my tee time suggesting the conditions might not be ideal. This course fairs much better in mid to late summer.
Bennett Valley
The course is in great shape. Greens were fast. Play was a little slower than I like but tolerable. All I. All a real good muni course.
The staff does not do its job
Stop letting people without A good bag on the course. Slows down play.
