Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort
About
Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort offers 27 holes of golf that are interlaced with the stands of majestic live oaks that form ribbons across the landscape. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Named after the densely forested landscape, the Tall Pines/Great Oaks combination will test your accuracy. In addition to the trees, sparkling blue lagoons are situated throughout the course and they provide more than just scenic respite. Golfers should be prepared for some tricky forced carries. There are some challenging holes at Sea Palms but overall, its playability is what makes it popular amongst all skill levels. There is also a practice area with a driving range and chipping and putting greens.

Awesome greens
It had rained pretty hard prior to my round and rained a little during the round so the course was understandable wet and played long because there was NO roll......lol. But it was challenging. Long par 3’s which I like. Very well kept!! Absolutely awesome greens!!!!! Thanks!!! Very enjoyable
St Simons vacation
Played the course back in Feb and was eager to play again. I played 45 holes this week and if I lived there. I would be a member. Love the layout, course condition and the staff both inside and cart guys were friendly and welcoming. I will be scheduling our group to play this Coming Feb.
Disappointed
Expectations were high given the green fees but left disappointed as the course was not in great shape with the exception being the greens. I thought the greens were in great shape. However, I recommend playing King and Prince for the overall $ value and its more challenging with better views there. A course that charges what Sea Palms does should at least have paved cart paths.
Love the redeveloped course
Course wet since 3 days of rain but our round was without reain
Great shape and fun to play
The course has generous fairways and large greens. The greens are in great shape at the moment. There’s nothing tricked up about this course. Very playable which makes it a nice track and a favorite of mine.
Awesome shape!
The course is in fantastic shape and the greens are rolling great! Would definitely play again in the future.
Playable course
Played here for the first time after a hot deal came up while visiting. Conditions were good for this time of year and seemed well maintained. Greens are good sized and fairways playable. It’s a pretty straight Forward layout, nothing dramatic. It’s not a long course and driving range wasn’t available on Monday when we played... and a couple miles away from the clubhouse / starting hole.
Nice course, tee times too close
The course was beautiful and the breeze from the ocean made the heat bearable. However, we were constantly waiting for the group in front of us, who was waiting on the group in front of them. I don't expect to have 'privacy' every hole, but I get very nervous with people watching me and it was at every hole.
Very good, but not great.
Positives first: Nice clubhouse, and very friendly staff. Nice golf carts. Greens were super, large, and very fast, ball rolled perfect, cups cut sharp, and painted. The par 3s were long, and looked pretty good. The par 5s were challenging, and the par 4s were a bit boring, but fairways were wide, and you had room to drive the ball without feeling to pinched. Water on the course, and rakes in the bunkers were a plus. No real negatives, just a bit boring.
Start & Finish..... what's in between?
Range facilities are quite a way from the pro shop..... and the cost is exorbitant at $10 for a S/M bucket, topped off by having to use a credit/debit card because the cash wouldn't load. Conditions were great, fairways and greens nicely mown and the rough not too penal either. I believe the overall layout/design was good, not great as nothing stood out as exceptional or rememberable to me. For a resort style course the par 3s seemed a bit long, with #17 nearing 200 yds but the green size offset distance somewhat. I'd play again, I'd recommend others playing as well.
I'm not one who haggles over prices at resort venues normally so I'll leave the $100+ fee decision up to you as to whether or not it had "value for the money" during a weekday. The cart staff were nice welcoming gentlemen and I think I saw the beverage cart twice. The pro shop (2 guys) weren't going out of their way for anything and barely had an interest in the clientele, no engagement at all unless you talk to them first. A simple recommendation: ask if one has played there before and if not offer (for sale?) a routing book with yardages listed. There are some areas you should avoid that aren't very obvious first time around.
Beautiful challenging course.
Very well groomed course. Large greens with challenging pin placements. The course requires strategy not long drives to score. Thumbs up!
Went as planned.
Had a great time and enjoy round with two other Golf Now members.
Good public option
I played here for the first time and liked it overall. The greens and fairways are above average but I didn’t really like the layout of the last 3 holes. A couple holes have a 90* dogleg with a longer 2nd shot than the tee shot. Overall a good day on a nice course.
Excellent Shape, layout nothing to write home about
This was my first time playing on St. Simmons Island. I found Sea Palms on the web and it looked like a very nice course.
I arrived for my 7:40 tee time early and was greeted by a nice young man in the parking lot. He loaded my bag and directed me to the shop. I was playing as a single and my wife came to ride along. (They didn’t charge me for her to ride which was nice). After checking in we were told there is a putting green out front and one by the first tee. We were also told we were paired up with a 2-some. So we when to the putting green by the first home and waited for the other 2-some to arrive.
Condition - The course was in excellent shape. The fairways were nice and good to hit off of. The greens were excellent and very receptive. Cusps to the Super, the course was in great shape.
Greens - The greens rolled very nice. They were quick, not fast but quick. There however were 2 greens where the pace was a lot slower then the rest. The greens were tricky to read at times. Myself and the 2-some struggled with some slopes that the ball actually broke up the slope.
Layout - The layout was very vanilla and plane. You just play through a development and there are no holes that stick out as memorable holes. A couple doglegs but mostly just straight forward holes.
Value - I have played a lot of golf at a lot of different courses and I must say this was my biggest disappointment. At $95 for a Wednesday round, I expected more. Clubhouse didn’t have coffee in the morning and they didn’t offer anything beyond the round like bottled water on the carts or range balls. Other courses in this price range offer you an experience not just a round. They welcome you and treat you as if they are happy you are there. After the young man loaded my bag, the remainder of interactions were subpar at best. The gentleman who checked us in could care less if we were there. The beverage cart girl pasted us 3 times, never stopped and didn’t even make eye contact. Which was a problem because of COVID-19 there was no water on the course and the half way house was closed. So for her to just wiz pass us was disappointing. On more than one occasion a member of the maintenance staff walked right in front of the green as we were hitting our approach shots.
After the round there was no one in sight. We unloaded our bags and didn’t even know where to return the carts. So we just pulled them up to the side of the clubhouse by the other staged carts.
Now again the course was in great shape, but for $95 I just expected more and a definitely better layout. If you like to just grab your sticks and play, this may be the place for you If you find a hot deal or discounted rate around $50. At $95 for me, I will unfortunately not be back.
Excellent Shape but that’s about it
First time playing here and was excited to play. I had a 7:40 tee time and when I arrived a very nice young man loaded my bag and guided us to the pro shop. My wife didn’t play and just road with me, (which they didn’t charge me for which was nice) I was paired with a Another two-some.
Course conditions - The course was in very good shape. Tee Boxes were great and fairways nice to hit off of.
The Greens - The greens rolled nice and were receptive. The green speed was quick, not fast but not slow. However two greens were very slow compared to the rest.
Layout - The layout was pretty basic. The course just winds its way through a community and had very little water. There just wasn’t any memorable holes on the course.
For $95 a round, I was not impressed with somethings. They didn’t have coffee in the shop in the morning, they didn’t offer any thing extra like a lot of clubs at this price point do (like bottles of water on the cart (especially when no water is on the course)or range balls), the beverage cart girl drove past our group 3 times and never made eye contact and just drove right past us, a maintenance staff member raking bunkers just walked out in front of the green as we were hitting our approach shots, and when we arrived back in after our round no one was around to greet us or tell us were to leave the carts or help us unload.
I am Not trying to be picky and understand COVID has affected golf clubs operations but I have played a lot of golf and clubs at this level, even now with COVID, you usually are treated to a better experience.
Again the course was in very good shape so my hats off to the super. If you like to just throw your sticks on a cart and go and play a quick round this may be the place for you. For me though, at $95, I expected a little more.
Pricey
I enjoyed it the leather seats were nice on the golf carts. So expensive though. Staff was first class very welcoming as I am new to the area
