course conditions
With all the recent rains the course was in good condiion.
Better Value Elsewhere
Can't blame Palm Valley for condensation on the greens or standing water and mud following Sunday's heavy rains but overall, the greens were not in very good condition with several burned out spots, and the Golfnow price of $32 per player is not a very good value right now, considering we have been playing at Lonetree in Chandler for $28, which is in excellent condition, or Dobson Ranch in Mesa, also excellent conditions, for $28. Also, the $32 we paid was advertised as being a 43% savings off the regular price. We would have been very disappointed had we paid the "regular price."
Still good value
Crew was still busy with getting the course back in shape after the record rainfall of last week. All things considered, playing conditions were pretty good, and I enjoyed my round.
Unexpected
Nice course. Played with discount luckely, because of raindamage in bunkers what was not mentioned on the site.
Challeging holes
Good Conditions
This course recently went through a major monsoon event 3 days prior and we found it to be in very good conditions considering the amount of rain that had fallen earlier in the week. Yes not all of the grass had been cut yet, but was still quite playable. And the bunkers were nothing but hard pan, but then who plays in the bunker anyway. :) well it was bad, but considering everything else I would still recommend playing here anytime, As the bunkers will dry and we will play on.
Average Shape for August
The course was in average shape for August in the desert. There were some areas that were burned out, the fairways were green but thin in most places. The greens were in good shape and the rough was either very long or bare. All in all a good experience. Pace of play was better once the twosome that was two groups up stopped playing at the turn. Front nine in 2.5 hours and back in just about 2 hrs.
Great Staff
Really enjoy playing Palmbrook! Great value and Darin in the Pro Shop does a Great Job! Will play here often!
Needs Help
Palm Valley has always been a very busy and super facility with well cared for greens, fairways, rough and bunkers. I played today and was disappointed in the current conditions. The rough and edges of the fairways were in severe disrepair with loads of dead grass areas. I could see they were working on the problems. The bunkers were also very hard pan sand. Middle of the fairways and greens were very good though. I will still come back and think we all should.
somw great holes
Course was not in ideal condition, given the summer weather it was average
Palm Valley
50% of Yardage markers on sprinklers were gone, directions from one hole to next can be better especially between hole 4 and 5. Just a simple arrow as you exit the tunnels. Greens were in great shape but areas around greens were cleaned up or died leaving dirt . Staff was very friendly and u can see what the groundskeeper is doing so the course will be perfect for the fall winter season.
great value
Outstanding condition for the middle of a Phoenix summer. Thoroughly enjoyable. Fairways and Greens were in great shape, obvious a lot of water was used to keep this course playable. Had played a neighboring course (2 miles away) the day before and was totally un-impressed with their course maintenance (bad greens). Palm Valley was a great value for the middle of the summer. Will return with other players.
Not bad for summer conditions
Course was in good summer condition. Greens were rolling pretty good, speed of the greens about an 8 on a stimp. Fairways were in good summer condition. Bunkers and tees were normal summer condition. Paid $29 on Saturday, about 4h30m round, a little slow for summer.
Good Course
This was my first time and I enjoyed the round. It wasn't that difficult. I will play it again.
Course in great shape especially the greens.
Highly recommend this course for the price and condition. We played as a 3 some and got around in 3 hrs. and 15 minutes.
special on golf now
I used to like .playing this course because it was nice well kept and the people seem to be SomeWhat pleasant. Really disappointed this time..people somewhat RUDE & didn't seem to care if we were there or not..drop off area N O one came out. Had to ask for everything!! Just over all a bad experiance.. be awhile before I go back.Would take a great deal to do that..
Value Course
I teed off at Palm Valley Friday morning around 0930. Greens fee was $30, $4 bucket of balls.
Nobody was on the course save for a few singles and a "sixsome." First time I have ever seen that but they were friendly and let me play through.
The course looked good for late July in Phoenix. The fairways had decent grass on them with a few bare spots but nothing to really affect play. The greens were on the firm side but still accepted shots although I never had to repair a ball mark all day. Tee boxes were good with a few not level. The sand traps were absolutely horrible and the only negative part of the course. They were basically a dessert area and should be treated as one with a chip out and not a normal sand shot.
The customer service at Palm Valley in the summer is not a strong point but the pro shop attendant did acknowledge my existence and thanked me for coming out. No bev cart was on duty but they do have water at every other hole.
Palm Valley offers a $5 replay rate through the summer and I was able to take advantage of it. I think PV is a great value in the summertime. I'm not sure I would pay their winter rates but summertime is a good value.
receptive greens
The course was in good condition. There were a few patches of repaired fairway, but the greens were soft and receptive. They also had a bit more break in them than I expected for being soft.
disappointed with the condition
fairways were pretty beat-up hardly any sand in bunkers
was pretty disappointed with the overall condition, was a far cry from the course i played just a month ago.
Palm Valley Championship
Nice course. Forgiven to those golfer who hit right our left too. So of the dance floors are challenging if you don't hit the ball right on the first time. The floors are lifted and the ball could roll off. The pave was so at first as we had parents with their children in front, lucky they played only 9 holes, then the pace improved.
I would pay this course again but I'm about affordable. I play weekly, so my play has to fit my budget cause golf isn't cheap.
Disappointed with greens
This is the second time we played in the past two months and both times the greens were in horrible shape. We were told they have a fungus growing but we would have expected it to be cleared up by now. Very disappointed a second time and probably won't return.
