Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Needs more signage.
There weren't any signs or any kind of markings to let you know what hole you were playing. They had a bunch of signs that say next hole with a pointer on it. But they pointed everywhere and was very
Not informative. They need to put up at least what hole you are playing? Maybe even a ball washer?I know that it's crazy or some water. But it is just open land with no signs and a bathroom here, and there.
Great course
Course was in fantastic shape with all the heat. The holes are a bit close to each other, but was still a great track...just have to be wary of crappy golfers hitting other fairways
Great staff and excellent course.
Staff couldn't have been better. Only issue was the day I golfed there were plenty of bad golfers who always hit onto other fairways. Other than that all good!
Great value
Typical desert course..Great value, greens are quick..still needs work, but for the cost, will play again. It wasn't busy today, flew around solo in 2 hours 10 minutes. Only 25 minutes from where Im staying downtown Phoenix.
GPS BOUNDRIES ARE HORRIBLE
The course is all good, except for the GPS boundaries for the carts. They're a bit extreme. I feel they should be REMOVED You don't really need them except maybe on the part 3s.
First and foremost last
A complete pasture. I definitely wouldn’t recommend or return.
Two thumbs up
Courses always in good condition, the staff is always helpful and friendly. However, the boundaries for the carts is a little bit ridiculous. I think they should have them removed except for the part 3s.
Staff is Awesome, great Links course
Sunday round with the boys. We've all been busy and haven't play or practiced. Still a great day on one of our favorite West valley courses.
Bunkers are great here, actually have sand in them .
Over Priced
The condition of the course is not great. Greens are dead and have been painted at some point. Making them hard and fast. Fairway grass is too short and in some place dead. Bunkers are actually quite good considering and a very playable. It looks like they are trying to improve things, but have lots of work ahead. Restaurant is basically a canteen that serves hotdogs and greasy burgers. When we came in to grab a bit after the round it smelled of sewer, so I'm assuming it coming from the septic system. I play a much better course back home for half the price.
You get what you pay for
Jr National is the is the epitome of “you get what you pay for “. It beats out Sundance as the best value in golf in the west valley. Only because of the gps carts . Got to say, it’s getting better. Hopefully they can make golf affordable again!
Definitely different
A non profit course, JNGC offered great value for being peak snowbird season. A friend and I drove one hour from Gilbert to check it out after seeing it on "Short Game King" YouTube channel.
The fairways were very dry and hard. Didn't appear that they overseeded. Greens were solid and fast! The layout is super cool and it turns out it's because of how old it is. If I lived close, I'd play it often but because I'm an hour away I won't put it into my rotation.
Give it a try though!
Fun lay out, conditions meh needed part of golf community
Great walkable golf course. The layout itself was more fun than I expected. Trees play a big factor in shot shape and help protect the golf course from being over powered.
The conditions are not the greatest. The course played very firm. Basically need to land short or just on the front and left it roll back. Hind sight I would play a lot of shots differently. Fairways very firm and scrubby but not to bad. The desert for the most part is wide open so you can find your ball. All the holes are next to each other so minus the OB on the outside holes you’re pretty much ok to hit anywhere and play on. It was almost links ish with how firm and windy it played… but then add some mature trees.
Great junior program. Apparently 17 and under play free. And looks like they were hosting a junior pga event the day i was there.
Was it worth the money. Probably not quite but it is relative to peak season golf in the phoenix metro area. If you’re on the west side of town and want a cheaper place to play I’d totally recommend it. Likely will return especially once the little one is old enough to play golf!
We need more courses like this for the locals vs $300 mid scottsdale courses.
Race Track
I had hoped course conditions had improved but alas this course is a race track. Positives carts had GPS’s, greens were fast and true. Negatives fairways dry, drive between tee boxes was like driving dirt roads, no ball washers, layout was poorly marked. Bottom line this is a deplorable course.
Great track with great bones
Nice playable course. Staff is great! The new owners will take this course to the next level. The future is bright, but hopefully we can keep it a secret for a while longer!
Best kept secret in the valley.
Tough greens, best sand traps, challenging but playable. Great staff. Course looks rough around the edges but Tee to green excellent. Great value for the price. Thanks to management for stepping up and investing in this hidden gem.
