Cal oaks pt 2

Course is in absolutely terrible condition. Pace of play was incredibly slow for a Thursday afternoon. You are literally driving through mud on the first nine holes. Should be $15/round honestly.

If not for Hot Deal

I was able to purchase a Hot Deal for a Friday mid morning round for $40. If I would have paid the $67 green fee I would have been totally upset.

The tee boxes were not mowed, most sand traps were over run with weeds, brown dead patches in several fairways. Finally, the Starter said there was an on course beverage cart that never showed on the front 9, and then was told at the turn, she had left for the day.

The lone bright spot was the greens. The Poana held like Velcro and the rolls were true and undulating.

As for the layout, very enjoyable rolling terrain and tough up and downhill shots. Not many flat lies on the course and really surprised the slope is only 125.

I would play it again if it were in better shape for the normal $67 green fee .

Goat Ranch

Tee boxes are hard as rock with little to no grass. Could not find a level stance they were so chewed up. Fairways were dead brown. More gophers holes than I’ve seen anywhere in a long time. Even though the fairways were dead, there were many areas of standing water creating a mud bath. The starter would not group individuals and twosomes with others. Created many waiting situations where a foursome would have been able to keep a good pace. The starter put out two groups ahead of their tee-time while we were waiting to go. Claimed it would speed things up?! Quit after 15 as it was just not worth the frustration.

Not bad 😊

Cool layout. Has some very tough holes, like all the par 5s are pretty much unreachable in 2 unless you can drive it around 275+. But also has some easy ones too. Course was in pretty decent shape. I have fun every time. But wouldn’t pay more than 40$ to play here.

My 6 year old daughter was turned away

On my day off work my 6 year old daughter wanted to go watch me play golf and ride in the cart for the first time. She got all dressed up in her golf attire and we headed to our 910am tee time. As soon as we walked into the club house Brian immediately said we don’t allow spectators. I made the point of how are kids supposed to learn the game if they can ride and watch. That is how I learned 30 years ago at the same course. As I was walking out he then turned the next guest away who had a normal tee shirt on who was wanting to hit range balls. This course looks to be in some of the worst shape I have ever seen and they are acting like it’s a private club.

Good conditions for summer

The course was in good shape for this time of year in Southern California. The greens were well kept, soft and receptive. There were a few dead spots in the fairways, but that happens here in Southern California. For the Golf Now price, it was definitely worth it.

Disappointing

Poorly maintained course. Too bad. Nice layout. 18th is a great finishing hole, if only it was kept it in better shape.
