About
Castle Oaks Golf Club is situated on the historic Preston Farmlands. The Preston Castle, built in 1894 overlooks the rolling, oak-studded hills of the course. The course opened a century later but it blends in beautifully with the existing terrain, utilizing the Sutter and Mule Creeks and mature trees as natural hazards. When the golf course opened it was acclaimed as the best public course in northern California and it has remained one of the area's premier courses. The layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that are wide and forgiving and others that are narrow and play alongside environmental hazards. The meandering creeks and several lakes come into play throughout. There are many risk/reward opportunities and golfers will encounter several hazards and out-of-bounds off the tee, but overall the course is player-friendly enough to appeal to any skill level.

Beautiful Winter Round
Weather, course condition and being allowed on a hour before our t-time made for an excellent day. For this time of year, compliments to the ground crew for pretty reasonable greens and cup placement where minor issues are avoided.

Excellent golf course at great price
Challenging but not overwhelming course. Need to keep the ball in the fairway. Lots of hazards. Several holes require planning your shots. Excellent greens and overall course conditions.

Great greens
One of the best courses in the Sacramento area. The greens are top notch. Even with all the rain the course was pretty good. Staff is friendly and very customer oriented. Can’t wait to play here again.

Worth the drive
Castle Oaks is still somewhat of a secret. Rarely crowded and priced competitively. Very nice layout with no two holes the same. The hardest two opening holes in the Sacramento valley. Good pro shop with friendly employees. The restaurant is great although it coul open earlier and stay open later on weekends. Nice full service bar.

Beautiful Course
Castle Oaks is in great shape currently. The greens are pure but will receive long irons and hybrids. #5 green held a 3 wood from 240 yards. Course is not overplayed. One of the best tuna fish sandwiches on the turn I have had in years. Pro shop staff very friendly, small town hospitality. Only negative is driving range teeing are a little rough. I would definitely recommend a trip to Castle Oaks, particularly if you haven't played it before or in a while.

Fun course!
Fun course, pace of play was fast. The bunkers need a little work, sand was very hard. They had nice white sand in the parking lot and maintenance was on one of the holes dumping the sand in the bunkers, so I think they may be replacing the sand in the bunkers which would be great!! Overall I had a great day!

Highly revimmend
Great and challenging little track. Great scenery and the weather was perfect this time of year. Cost was well below what I pay at home. Challenging from the Blies and the ladies tees were perfect for my wife. We enjoyed the day and We will be back.
