The Club at Savannah Harbor
About
The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

Great course!
Course is in great shape for this time of year...much better than most others in the area...including thise on and near Hilton Head Island.
Good experience in general.
Good conditions, great speed of play, and a fair course to play.
Scenic, challenging yet fair
Solid course, some great views, and some holes are super hard, especially when the wind is whippin. Clubhouse doesn’t look like much from outside but is pretty nice inside. Make sure you start out hot on 1-5. 6-7 are incredibly difficult. 13 is very difficult as well. Enjoyable round. Lots of bugs though
Best Public Course in Savannah
I really enjoyed the Club at Savannah Harbor. We played right after over seeding which meant cart path only and a slower pace of play, especially since it was our first time playing the course. The layout is excellent with great views throughout and the course itself is very fair, but with high risk, high reward gambles. I will admit that few of them got the best me. We played a few times while vacationing in Savannah and this was the best public course we found.
A must play evert time we hit HHI
Always enjoy our round here. This time we had the joy of starting in the fog, but it quickly cleared to reveal many great views and a few great shots. Cheers.
Great day in the off-season
I played the course in mid-December on a cool but pleasantly sunny day. The course was not crowded at all due to season, although there was a large group going off later. Conditions were wonderful, and the layout was great. Staff was helpful and courteous. At the bargain rate I got, the day was a tremendous value. It was nice to play a course where the pros play (the Liberty Mutual Legends event on the Champions' Tour). I will do it again next vacation to the Hilton Head area.
This course is a true delight and pure joy
Everybody is so friendly here, and I really mean everybody: from the bag drop, to the golf shop, starter, ranger, all the way to the cart lady etc. You know it’s classy here when the range balls are complimentary.
The course is well designed as you start with easier holes and can get yourself warmed up and in a groove before encountering the tougher holes (#6,7). Spectacular views of Savannah and its river. Picturesque holes with the just the right mix of bunkers, doglegs, trees and ponds. Finally, a course designed for the real public and not with pro golfers in mind ! Forget the long carries, impossibly thick rough, elevated turtle-back greens your ball can’t hold ! You will truly enjoy every shot and never forget your round there. Can’t wait to come back.
Absolutely Beautiful Course
Even though it was cart path only because of fresh over seeding, I would definitely play this course again. Great conditions and beautiful backdrop.
windy and long for seniors
This is a 4-5 star course - fairways and greens were near perfect. It was very windy which I was told was the norm. The senior tees were over 6K yds. and that make it very difficult to get on in reg on many holes but I did score my usual 88 because the greens were rolling great. The wind made for a very long day.
My wife thought that the women's tees were unfair for a high hdcp. golfer but she enjoyed the course.
One more thought - 2 of the par 3s were 200 yds - hey guys were not pros !!!! @ age 74 and our tee shots only travel 190 yds.
Savanna Harbour
Enjoyed this course immensely
Cool day for October and the wind definitely made it interesting and a real challenge
Played really long but luckily had a great Driving day
I’m from Kentucky so the greens and Bermuda around them were new to me and just like the previous day I struggled some
The young lady organizing everything was very helpful and couldn’t have been nicer
The course was in beautiful condition
And the greens though very fast held shots really nicely
Got a heck of a deal on Golf now and loved playing here
If you get the chance definitely play here!!
Club @ Savannah
Excellent conditions
Greens were hand cut ran very true
a pleasure to putt.
Stuck behind SCAD Players
We were really excited to play this course - it had been on our radar for a while. We finally decided to make the trip to Savannah from Columbia, SC to play on Labor Day weekend because there was the $55/round promotion if you make a cash donation to Folds of Honor. I booked a tee time online for 3:00 pm. When I got to the course to check in, I was told my tee time was not booked (even though I had the confirmation email). The pro shop employee was not very understanding or empathetic to me but got me a tee time. When we went to tee off, the starter told us there was no one in front of us so we could go ahead and tee off. By the time we got to our second shots on the first hole, there were 4 players from Savannah College of Art and Design walking behind us. They were playing some sort of team game and they were teeing off from less than 100 yards from the hole. I was trying to line up my second shot and all I could hear were the SCAD players talking and laughing. We were going to let them play through until we realized there were 5 plus groups of 4 SCAD players behind us. After the first hole, we teed up at the second hole. As we drove to our balls, the SCAD players walked behind us. When we got to our second shots (which were further out than the place the SCAD players were teeing off from), the SCAD players WALK PAST US, talking loudly and laughing and stood at where they were teeing off. I was very annoyed with this. My fiancé said something to them about keeping quiet and being respectful. By the third hole, we had had enough. They were loud, obnoxious, playing way up our backs, etc. I called the starter and told him we were turning around and restarting our round behind all of the SCAD players. When we got to the 9th hole, all the SCAD players were waiting around at the green for their last group to finish. When they finished, instead of holding their team meeting away from the hole, they STOOD ON THE GREEN for 10 minutes as I waited in the fairway to hit my ball. It wasn't until I yelled "FORE" that they moved off the green. I would not recommend playing this course unless you can know for sure the SCAD players will not be there. They ruined our experience. Not only that but they left divots in the middle of the fairway where they were teeing off. Didn't fill them in or anything. Very disrespectful and left a bad taste in my mouth about the course.
It's rained a lot here in Savannah
Great modern layout with big fairways and big greens for the most part. Also, big trouble if you get way off line. The weather has been unkind to this course lately. They have had way too much rain. The fairways are in great shape but very wet. I think I averaged about 1 yard of roll off the tee all day. Not the courses fault. The driving range was closed so no warm up before my round. Also because of the rain. The greens had been top dressed recently. Probably also because of the amount of rain. The still had a lot of grass on them and putted very well. Overall a great layout in good condition. Normally in very good condition. I suggest playing up one tee box until the course dries out some.
Fantastic Course
My buddy and I were in town on business and knew we would have time in the afternoon to get in 18 holes. This course was on my radar a couple of years ago so I knew I wanted to try to play it while in town. It is definitely one of my favorite courses now. From the clubhouse to the first tee to the 18th green. I can't wait to get back so The Club at Savannah Harbor.
