The Club at Savannah Harbor
About
The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

Golf at your own risk! Great track, but unplayable due to mosquitos
I really liked the course. Awesome driving range with free balls and music playing while you warm up. Good size practice green and dedicated chipping area as well. Staff inside at the clubhouse and out on the course were great as well. Cart girl always around when you need her too.
The problem: mosquitos. I have NEVER been bombarded with bugs like this before. They annoy, hurt, draw blood, and somehow are magnetic to skin. I legitimately have over 50 painful/itchy welts all over my body (they can bite through polos). I wish I was exaggerating but I had the opportunity to play with folks that have experience with southern course bug issues who said “ah, we’re used to it” and by the end of the round they too were saying it was the worst conditions they’ve ever played. If the course could clean up the mosquito problem it would be 5-stars across the board but until then, even if the round was FREE, I would not go play again.
Take your money to Hilton Head
You can pay the same money to play the George Fazio course or the Arther Hills course in palmetto dunes on Hilton Head island. The fair ways at Savannah harbor have weeds growing in the middle of them. The sand in the bunkers is miserable and seems like they haven’t added new sand in forever. The greens are extremely patchy and bumpy. I’ve lived in Savannah for 11 years now and this course has just gotta progressively worse. Crosswinds golf club in Pooler is $50 and 10x better quality golf course. Do not come here!!
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the condition of the course and are committed to making improvements to enhance the quality of your experience at The Club at Savannah Harbor.
It'll be awesome when the Convention Center is done.
I love this course, but the construction on the convention center is causing some issues. The last time there, they had no internet, which meant no computers, which meant no food.
My only real criticism is that when we get to 90+ degrees, it would be nice to have more water available on the course.
Long for Women but just made it more challenging
The previous day there was an enormous amount of rain but they got the course in great playing condition. Most holes were 90 degree with a couple being cart path. Due to the rain, the driving range was closed and for some reason so was the snack bar, but the cart gal made it our way about 4 times so we were well cared for. As a women golfer, the course was longer than I’m used to but just made for more of a challenge. Some of the greens were yeowsa! BIG! So be prepared to hone in your putting skills! The USB ports in the carts (I tried 6 different carts) did not work which was disappointing because my cart fan runs off one. The carts had built in GPS which was great. All
the staff were very helpful and friendly. Next time I’m in Savannah I’ll definitely play here again.
Perfect Golf
The course was in excellent shape. Fairways fringe and greens. Staff very friendly.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the course and found our staff friendly at The Club at Savannah Harbor.
Awesome views
Great course with a relaxing atmosphere, you have to check your bags and they bring them around, also have to leave your bags in the cart and they take them back up front, but you do get your clubs cleaned so bring some cash, or maybe not actually since they want to be a cashless business so I guess the staff should carry a card reader if they want a tip, lol. Saw two gators in the ponds on the course so beware. Construction is ongoing on the 17th hole so it's noisy. The layout is fairly open with only 1 or 2 technical holes, but with the tall grass and gator threat it might be easy to lose a few balls.
Great course
A little long for women if not long hitters. Course had received several inches of rain day before I played and they had to close the range and for some
Reason the grill bit called me beforehand and let me know what to expect. The USB ports on the carts did not work, I tried 6 different carts, which I needed for my fan and personal range finder. They did however have range finders on the carts. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Several of the greens were enormous. Get ready to 3 putt! I really enjoyed the course and will definitely be back next time I’m in Savannah.
Fantastic
Loved this course. Course is in great shape and a fun and challenging layout. Lush and well manicured from tee to green. The staff was great… everyone we dealt with took good care of our group. One of the best public course experiences I’ve had in a long time. Thanks to the crew at the Harbor, it will be a regular stop for us when we are in the Savannah area.
Consistent
Alway enjoy playing here. The course is in amazing shape thus year. Not a green, fairway or tee box out of sorts. We have had a lot of rain recently so some of the bunkers were muddy more than sand but that’s small complaint. Already planning my next round!
Enjoyable, challenging, soggy and fun
After 10 years of staying at Westin, finally decided to play and it was well worth it. Normally a middle tee golfer, but took on the challenge of playing from back tees course was scenic, challenging for some holes, but more than fair. Course management is definitely your friend on most of the holes, especially around and on the green. Only drawback was fairways were soaked from watering. No roll, too many plugged balls in idle targets, and increasing difficulty of crisp contact. Soggy fairways easily cost 4 to 5 strokes. Despite sogginess, I am looking forward to playing again soon.
Great deal
Have played the course on numerous occasions over the years but first time in over a year since they redid the greens. Horse was in excellent shape, staff a very friendly. It was a very positive experience with definitely play again great value for the money through golf now
Thank you for your detailed feedback and kind words about our facilities and staff. We apologize for the mosquito issue and are actively working on solutions to improve the experience for our guests.
