PS. Forgot to say on my review the staff is great 👍. Starts with the gentleman at the bag drop, ladies and gentleman in the clubhouse and the starters. Thanks
WoW
The course is only one year old. I really like the layout, fairways are wide and in good condition. Bunkers are well placed and good sand . Water hazards are in play if you hit bad shots. Some of the holes are doglegs that make you play smart golf, pay attention to the gps on the carts. The greens are big and with slops and great speed, take some time to practice on the putting green. Very good practice area chipping and driving range.
Still very new
Course layout OK. Rock hard fairways and greens. Guess needs time to soften up a bit. Temporary proshop in a trailer. No facilities. Staff very friendly
Young course
This course is new and needs to mature. Grass is thin but in good shape. Greens are very fast. Temp trailer for the club house and proshop. Layout is great but construction is everywhere which takes away from the outdoor golf experience. This will change in the coming years. If you can get a round at a low price, it is worth a try..
New course
I enjoyed playing this course, still pretty new course,.layout is very good. Greens are challenging
Firm yet Fair
This course has a premium feel with a complex layout. You are forced into playing the course with varying tee shot lengths. As a new course the greens are a bit firm and do not hold shots well yet, but they are fast putts and true rolls. If you are a longer hitter, the #2 tees feel restricting with shots rolling thru the firmer fairways. The #1 tees are no joke and require a carry over hazards on most shots. This course deserves to be played before it becomes fully private in a few years
Great course, fast greens
Course was in great condition, especially the greens. I played the course while visiting family and it did not disappoint. I’m a member at a country club back home in Ohio and the conditions at Wellen Park are what you expect from a country club. That was exactly what I was looking for in a course while on my visit.
nice course- Terrible greens
Overall a very nice course. Interesting layout. Well groomed. BUT the greens. Yikes! Greens are in good condition. Very fast. The HUGE problem on many greens is the slope. If your above the hole on many of the greens expect a 3 put and get reaady for a 4 put. Seriously needs immediate attention. Many greens are not just tought but are just plain stupid.
Wellen Works
Overall enjoyed playing the course. Staff was super! Putting green, chip, sand, and range top notch! A handful of tee boxes were poorly designed as you had to wait for foursome to tee off before approaching. There’s a severe layout on the back maybe 16 or 17 holes. Backyards and people at their homes could be potentially injured if hit by a ball. Once kinks are worked out and clubhouse, bathrooms, and restaurant are available; I’ll be coming back for sure!
Great value
2nd time playing Wellen Park. The course is in very good condition and if you want to play from the #1 or #2 tee it becomes quite long and challenging. You are indeed in the middle of construction so not the nicest ambience and off course amenities are non-existent. But great value when you book with GN.
