Never play here again
I live in city of sarasota so BJ is a local muni course. But they price it way too high. Even with my 40% discount, it's cheaper to play other courses. The city spent millions of dollars to change the course, reducing it from 36 to 18 holes. Greens were uneven and not true. Cart paths were dirt and full of potholes. No marshall present to speed up group in front of us. They keep driving all over the place, back and forth, looking for balls or not knowing where to go. City spend too much money and made it worse. I will NEVER play there again.
First and Last Time playing it.
A public course, where they take no pride in maintenance. From the dirty unmaintained carts, to the poorly maintained course. Several greens needed repair. So sad it's named after Bobby Jones.
Not worth the price.
Good course
The clubhouse and the pro shop are nothing fancy but they have what you need. The course layout is nice and not super challenging. The course was in great shape and we were able to play 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. The staff was friendly. And we had a great time. The course is a little pricey this time of year, but we will definitely play here again when the price comes down this summer.
Had a great time… really liked the course. Not too difficult for people who don’t play a lot… thank you

Course layout, fairways and greens are very good.? Pace of play was awful 4:45 which takes away from enjoyment. Started around noon and saw not one ranger to speed the 2 groups ahead of us with open holes ahead of them.
Rough but fun
The course still shows signs of a recent renovation. The roads around the clubhouse and the cart paths are gravel and dusty. The carts are old gas cars but very adequate. Staff in the clubhouse were pleasant and helpful. The club house is a trailer but very funtional with extra restrooms. The course is surprisingly interesting. It shows many signs of the original Don Ross design. The faiways are wide open so you can swing away. The first hole was only about 250 yards from white tees so I played blue the rest of the day. The geens were very fast and challenging with hard to read breaks. Close putts would roll several feet past if not in the hole. Play was very crowded and slow. We started late for our 10:30 tee time late and stayed slow all day. The starter spent ten minutes chatting to an old guy about their retirements and gave us no information about the course. He ordered us out of the way when we showed up for our tee time. Apparently an early womens league on Tuesday got play backed up all day. A ranger helped wave up groups on a par three which helped for awhile, but we had to leave after 4 1/2 hours on 16 for another engagement.
greens need tlc
several of the greens had bad blemishes and dead spots.
Under 4 hours
A very flat Florida course, except for the greens. I found the greens were unable to hold any wedge when properly trapped. Greens were very hard and had a lot of slope and had some mold on them, overall a nice Muni course. The players I played with play there weekly and say it is affordable, they pointed out the flaws on the course, this course might have been very nice at some point, it is a Donald Ross and it used to have 36 holes, however it is 18 now and I believe the clubhouse used to be on the other 18, their's was a trailer.
