Great Grass
Probably the easiest layout I've seen. Not alot of trouble. The maintenance crew keep the grass in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, greens are in really good shape. Fun round, confidence builder!
Nice track
Course in good condition, greens still firm from change.
Almost there…
First time I’ve played the course since the renovation. I love the layout of the course. It was in pretty great condition as well as the greens. While the greens rolled great, they didn’t really roll true whatsoever. When they looked straight, it wouldn’t go straight. When it didn’t look straight, it went straight. Considering they invested almost $20 million into the course, I was disappointed to notice they don’t have any monitors/displays on the cart. The carts are gas, but they were relatively slow. And I’m not sure whose idea it was to have the Par 3s on the course be 190,190,210, and 240… pretty absurd imo. But having said all of this, I did enjoy the course and would recommend to friends.
Need some more
The pace of play was slow at best with no ranger around. There are sporadic yardage markings on the course with no gos in the cart. Finally, it would be nice to have ice at the wsy ststions.
Course conditions are great but the slow play and no ice at the rest stops made for a long round.
As others say, a muni not worth the price... especially in season.
I live locally and used to play all 3 Bobby Jones courses often. American and British were challenging, a good value and in good shape. The newly redone course is super expensive. $100 for a muni, even in season is outrageous. It used to cost a fraction of that, and Bradenton munis like River Run are a much better deal. The city commission should be embarrassed for this taxpayer fleecing and public-private fiasco. They cite a discount for city residents but half a million people in the county get gouged like the tourists. I finally played the new course after watching prices for months to get a $45 rate. I will say the greens are smooth, as they should be on a totally redone course. But the range is miles away, super pricey. The check in was slow, the starter inept and the course pretty basic. Not worth the wait, the hype or the big price!
Easy and fun
GPS watches don't work yet but the Grint GPS does. For the most part you can spray it off the tee with little penalty. Greens are still new so they are only moderately receptive. Great practice area. Only issue, and I've run into it on a coupl of occasions, i the wholes being cut on the edge of a steep grade of the green. This last round it was so ridiculous on whole three that I announced to the group "auto two puts for everyone". If I hadn't we might still be there. Miss the cup and your 20 feet away, just stupid. There are a few things they could do to take better care of their staff. I love the club cleaner on the cart but it puts the sand only on the passenger side and screws the guys at the bag drop out of their cleaning tips. Cart girl selling Gatorade for $4.50 Make it $4 and let her get the whole dollar. Outside of those little things they have done a great job with the course. Great confidence booster, I'm a 12 and have shot in the mid 70's there, twice.
Muni like no other !!
For a local municipal course, Sarasota really outdid themselves with this track, plays and feels like a member only club
Once they get the trackman installed on the range and clubhouse finished, place will be incredible
Course aerated day before and day of play with no warning
The course was affected by some flooding, so I called and asked about the course condition. I was told the course was in good condition, but 9 holes were aerated the day before play and the other 9 holes were aerated the day of play requiring playing the front 9 twice and they failed to mention this to me when I inquired about the course condition. This was also not identified on the Golf Now website. I felt like I over payed given the course condition and fact that 9 holes were closed. My playing partners were not happy with me or what happened at the course for the price they paid to play.
Terrible. Grass was grossly uncut. I think they are preparing for the US Open. 🤷🏻♂️ Not enjoyable. They should refund my money.
