Great up and coming course
Used the huge practice facility the night before I played here. I was in heaven...three pitching/chipping/sand practice greens, a range, and a huge putting green. The course was also in good shape and was very open, fun, and straight forward. Staff was all friendly and helpful and I think this place will even get better as time goes on.
Sarasota - well done.
The City of Sarasota consolidated two courses into one nicely maintained course. The course is mostly green, a rarity in dry Florida. They water both fairways and greens. The course is relatively flat and playable, several tees to choose from. Plans for a nice three story clubhouse in the works. I enjoyed my round.
Very playable
The greens were in great shape and putted true. Fairways very good shape as were the traps. Very forgiving fairways for drives.
Worst golf experience this season!
2 hours and 55 minutes to play nine holes.
Your Marshalls have all the excuses possible.
Both par 3’s on the front nine were backed up with 3-4 groups waiting.
Will never wait another day at this course.
It was worth the wait.
I very much enjoyed the restored course. The entire experience was most pleasant. They do have a pace play issue that they will eventually have to figure out.
Nice course after the redo
Course upgrade was needed, and it turned out quite well. Enjoyed the 18. May be a little pricey compared to other courses, but played on a Saturday. Will play again.
NOT SURE
FAIR COURSE. GOOD CONDITION. WIDE OPEN
FST AND TRUE GREENS.A FANTASTIC PRACTICE FACILITY. AS MOST FL GOLF COURSES IT PLAYED SLOW.
Price is crazy!!!
The course is wide open. In great shape as it is brand new. Lacking any true obstacles. If you like wide fairways and nothing else this course is for you. I brought my wife to ride with me on a Sunday at 4:30pm to play 9 holes and when the woman told me $94.00 I could not believe it. Was told it’s $30.00 for a rider who doesn’t even play. So as far as the price to play being $64.00 on a Sunday to play 9 after 4pm is not surprising but to enjoy a municipal course in a city where I have lived in my entire life is crazy. But I am a sucker and playing there today only because I was invited.
Uninspiring
After all the wait for the course to reopen, not overly impressed. Had waited for a good Hot deal to come up, wasn't willing to pay the $90-100 they were getting during "the season". Got lucky & got a deal for $60 & honestly after playing it, doubt would return again for that price. To me its a $50 course tops!! A very "vanilla" & uninspiring golf course. IMHO lacks any character at all. To be fair, course is in very nice condition, except for rock hard greens & tee boxes, which are to be expected on a brand new course. Time should take care of that, but a little extra watering on the tees would sure help!! GREENS ARE VERY NICE, FAST & TRUE. Fairways & bunkers all nice & well maintained. You have to hit your ball WAY out of play to find any rough, so cant comment on that, but it did look like not much penalty there.....the fairways here are huge & almost impossible to miss!!!!! To make matters worse, the pace was dreadfully so.....just under 5 hours to play!!! All the staff we interacted with were super friendly, and really try to make this an upscale golf experience, but the blandness of the course really doesn't allow that to happen. Honestly, the old courses when they were kept in good shape were MUCH better than the "new" course. No way would I ever pay $90 to play this course......sorry!!!!
Greens are in great shape. The fairways could still be maintained a bit better. I find the course a bit too open, but I do enjoy playing it.
Great course
There were a couple spots that backed up but moved along good after the choke points. The course has a lot of roll. It looked like "August" time rolls. The greens are in great shape. Over all it was a great day..and a great new course to play in the future.
Score Friendly Course
Liked the course for the value. Par 4s were somewhat shorter than what I do play, but it worked. Golf score friendly course.
Pace of play was rough
For $100 / golfer, I’d appreciate the management of tee times to be better. The course is not terrible, but we waiting on every hole after teeing off nearly 20 minutes after our tee time. They just over book. If they can spread this out a bit, the course could be more enjoyable, but if you’re not willing to wait to hit, almost every shot, I’d recommend going elsewhere.
What happened?
This Ross “gem” is a joke. The original course, even as badly maintained as it was, was a much better course. Since it’s new the fairways and greens are in fair shape but already getting thin spots from overplayed schedule. Tee boxes are hard as cement. Course is not getting enough water. Pace of play is worse in county. Practice area is best in area. In summary-overpriced, over played, a boring design with a great practice facility. Will practice here but play elsewhere.
