Bobby Jones
Solid course that plays reality easy. Lots of choices for which tees to hit from. Par threes are fairly long.
Pleasantly surprised.
First time in over a decade since I’ve played here and what a value since the remodel. Fair and generous layout and for the money the greens are fantastic when compared to other local public courses. Not even close. Play this course.

Fair
For a Troon run and managed facility, I was highly disappointed in the overall customer service. However, to be fair everyone working at Bobby Jones is highly trained with troon policies and procedures. It's a little much and comes across inpatient, rude, and slightly overboard. Personally, the golf course reboot is fair and well suited for most playing abilities. Additionally, the city should have saved the requested 100k consulting fee for this project and gone a different direction. That was an absolute waste of public funds. I think most women who like playing golf would enjoy this layout. With mixed reviews, I feel summer rates are comparable and competitive with most Sarasota courses. However, rates during the high season don't match the quality or value for this course. Perhaps, the GM, Head Golf Professional, or a City associate can invest in proper outside accommodations and umbrellas for their service members. With 100 degree weather sometimes in state of Florida during the summer, this does not show much confidence in management or how they value current employees. Temporary or not, this was very disappointing based on other Troon managed facilities I've encountered. Overall, I hope this is a success story for the city of Sarasota.
Comfort Stations are fair and clean. However, water quality was not very good.
No mango scented towels
Portable Clubhouse 6.5/10
Golf Carts 7/10. Rusted Club Cleaners.
Golf Course Conditions 7/10. The edging around the bunkers and sand complexity needs refining.
Driving Range / Facilities 8/10
Intolerable pace of play
1 hour and 20 minutes to play 4 holes. The very same greedy attitude that killed this club before is well on its way to repeating. .
Very Odd course
The layout of the course was very interesting, the fairways were very thin and were almost all connected to the next hole. A lot of bunkers right in front of the green making approach shots very difficult. Not necessarily sure how to put it into words just the feel of the course was very awkward and the only way to understand is by playing it yourself. Very friendly staff and nice range but not sure i’d play it again.
Poor customer service and very slow from check in to finish
4th Time playing. Live in the county. Called a few days ahead to book. Arrive and it takes 7 min to check in at 0730, only one counter person. Was given a discount for punched greens and although a nice gesture, this is a slick sales trick not telling us on the phone the greens were punched. Would have played elsewhere but now they have us with a little bait and switch. Very poorly done. 1st tee is always 15-25 minutes behind. Rounds take close to 5 hours even in late June. Price is still high for a municipal. They keep communicating summer deals and play again rates but I can’t imagine they are getting more than a handful of people to bite. It seems they want all money recuperated in year 1. Best of luck, would love to play here bi-weekly but it’s impossible with the wait times and prices. Layout is a little vanilla too. Could use more greenery and trees. We see plenty of tee times available too at $59-$69 not sure why dynamic pricing isn’t considered to get more folks in at $39-$49 and even last minute $29 deals. The range is the best part about the course. Huge driving area, 3 greens to chip into, and an 18 hole practice green.
Great course conditions
Tee time was 7:22am this morning 6/22, and was completed by 11:15a, pretty good pace in my opinion.
Fairways, tee boxes were by and large in great shape. We were informed prior to teeing off at hole 1 that the greens were recently aerated on the Monday before (6/17), so the greens were a little sandy.
But other than that, course is in very good condition compared to other public courses. I’ll be back!
Interesting Rehab
Not sure what the goal was - but the former layout was much better. Maybe with age and seasoning - the track will be worth the lofty prices. Hard to find yardage maker on the course. At $50 is was not bad. At $100 which they charge during the winter … no way!!
Reluctant to book through tee time again
Booked with tee off. When arrived at the course only the front nine holes were open and the greens on those holes were covered in sand. Far too much to meaningly putt on. Course could not issue a rain check or discount because I had paid on line. Hence my reluctance to book through tee time again. Will probably go direct to course and check conditions first.
Great course in Great condition. Will play it again!
Great course, good people, pace of play ugggg...
For the lack of rain, course was in very good shape. Greens roll pretty true for new greens. Front nine took 2:45 min... Not sure what the answer is, but 5+ hr rounds are not sustainable and will keep people from coming back.
An old Donald Ross design refreshed in 2023. Conditions great, design average.
This is a classic parkland-style course except there are very few trees. Mostly turtle-back greens with gentle slopes and a couple with two tiers. Bunkers and mounds in all the right places. The holes are laid out in mostly straight forward patterns with very little rough to speak of. You can miss the fairways right or left and still find your ball. Seven tee boxes to choose from for any skill level. In essence, a very simple course to play.
Visitor to the are so I don't know the history except that this was closed for 1 year for a redesign and opened again in 2023. The greens roll perfectly and slightly fast and are tough to hold. I guess that it will take a while for the greens to soften up a bit and hold a tight shot. Plan on a lot of run when approaching.
The course has an app with a course GPS but I had a hard time getting good yardages from it. Used my golf watch and range finder for accuracy.
Summer weekend green fess of $69 seemed reasonable for the course and easier to get a tee time with all the private clubs in the area.
First time since re-open
For the lack of rain we have had the course was in great shape. Greens rolled true, fairways and tees in good shape. The new layout is fun, not a lot of trouble which isn’t a bad thing. Will for sure play again now that the seasonal peeps are gone.
from Tee 10 we had new a flight with 2 players in front off us. They played very bad and slowly. We missed the marshal.
