Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

This place looks like its been abandoned!
I would give this a -5 star rating if possible. There is no grass on the greens, they are slick mud covered. The only thing they care about is the restaurant. $37 to walk!? No Thanks!
Good course layout greens were in big trouble
Price for this course is set on a walking rate and although the cart price $12.00 is reasonable quite a few players choose to walk. This makes the average round close to five hours. Course drains very poorly and when we played it in early December 2012 the greens were suffering from too much rain and a fungus. Staff was friendly and the course is well maintained but has difficulty with a moderate amount of rain.
Peacock Gap has improved to a first class golf course
I recently played here, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the improvements made in every aspect. It is an enjoyable and well maintained course. You will be happy that you played here.
What a shame....please read
First let me say this golf course is absolutely beautiful. We reserve the 712 tee time and showed up at 6:30 because we had a wedding to go to and needed to be done by 11 AM. Despite accomplishing this goal and having a round of 18 in-under four hours we were asked by the Marshall to speed up play. I suspect the group behind us did not like waiting a few minutes at the turn and called their buddy who was the Marshall. Without investigating the merits of their request the Marshall told us to speed up play then proceeded to accompany us on the remaining eight holes to ensure our play was fast. Of note, our threesome had caught up to a single golfer two holes later however the Marshall accompanied for the duration of our round and watched with binoculars as we hit every shot.
For other reasons that I won't go in to, I got the impression that this is a "locals" course and although open to the public they certainly are not welcoming to outsiders. Their "good ole boy" network made sure that my family that traveled across the country from Hong Kong to spend a relaxing morning together proved anything but relaxing.
If you're traveling from outside this area I would think twice before playing Peacock Gap golf club. This is a shame because the course is an absolutely fantastic shape and this could've been a wonderful reunion with new family. I sincerely hope that this day was an aberration and I would certainly hope that typically this course is receptive to those traveling from outside the country, however based on this experience and how sad I felt after a round of golf I have to give this beautiful course a very poor rating.
What a shame!
Peacock is tattered. Greens are garbage, course is neglected and were it not for the convenience of the course NO ONE would ever go there.
Golf Now rate has a hidden fee for a cart - nice little bonus when you arrive and the staff is rude and knows they are getting over on the cart fee - very weak!!!
Seventy something to play that track is a travesity..
Way better value at Indian Valley, San G or Stonetree...Adobe and Peacock are the 2 worst kept courses in the area but at least Adobe doesn't gouge you.
Fun Neighborhood course!
Better course than I remember. Fair. Fun community course with great staff and friendly locals. Will come back.
Nice wide open course
This is a nice course that scores easier than most. I had one of my best rounds here. They have a couple of par 5's that would be par 4's elsewhere, but this is a good course. The staff is friendly and the pace of play is pretty good. I only had to wait a couple minute for a group in front a few time, very reasonable. The course is wide open and has a great vibe. No complaint with maintenance of the course and the greens were about average in speed. Booked the tee time on a hot deal and was very satisfied with the course and the time I had.
The new clubhouse has transformed the Peacock Gap experience -- super easy to check in, hit the range, grab a snack.
If you haven't played this course since the greens were re-designed and clubhouse completed, you really need to go and play. Good value, more than a few challenges, nice people on the course!
Aerated Greens
I've played Peacock before and think it's a great course for the money. I recently played though, and since I booked online wasn't aware that the Greens had been aerated, and by the looks of it maybe the day before. We weren't informed upon check in, and no discount was given. The greens were un-puttable, which pretty much ruined our round. I thought I was putting on a sandy beach. Too bad because I really like this course. May be a while before I return. Side note: The only reason we didn't complain Is because we were rushing to the clubhouse after 18 to watch the Giants beat the Reds in game 5 to take the series. We were so excited after the win we forgot to ask for a partial refund. It was punishment for booking a round during that important of a game.
Great course for a casual round
Its very flat with not much hazards. A very good course for beginners.
Nice course but very slow play
Beautiful day but very slow play and did not see a marshal all day
Older "country club" layout; played mostly by members
Straight forward layout with some challenges. The range balls are $17!! for a "large" bucket (Marin has few real driving ranges, so they are taking advantage).
Would play it again
Rude employees
This course is in a pretentious neighborhood. They hire high school and community college kids who know nothing about customer service. Even if they cannot accommodate a request, they are rude about it. They seem to have forgotten that we are paying customers. I haven't had a single friendly encounter with the staff at this course and although it is a well maintained course and a good challenge, I wouldn't recommend this course because of the above reasons.
The course has good features
The course is under renovation, but good for play.
