Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Great weather, very open
Course is in good shape. Not too crowded and is relatively cheap. The course is also very open, hard to lose a ball here.
Mayor of nob hill says....
Pros
Close to the city
When your game needs some work it's a good place to find your game again.
Grass range
Your not going to lose more than one ball.
Staff is friendly
Locals are starting to hangout there.
Cons
This course is about $10 over priced
Tips are shorter than some white boxes
Lots of goose terds but it has improved
At times this course can be very slow
Eventhough staff is nice they lack polished service. This makes me wonder about large events?
With new ownership this place has really improved but its time to focus on the course more so
than the event planning. Yes events bring in capital but it is a golf course. This place is almost there, don't stop!

nice course... TERRIBLE greens
Facilities were great and everything is brand new. Driving range is all grass which is perfect. Fairways perfect. Rough was a little long (bring a lot of balls the disappear right in front of you it was rediculous) and was a major complaint for a lot of people out there. The greens.... awful!! they were long and seemed almost weedy along with being aerated semi recently and a lot of unhealed ball markings. Worst greens I have ever seen. Was very frustrating.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Our greens have fully recovered from aeration. It's a necessary evil but we help our guests with 20% discounts during the healing process. I agree that the greens were less than ideal this year. We've made some changes to our maintenance practices and actually stimped the greens at 11.1 recently. I'll put these greens up against any course in the area. It sounds like you played during a time when our rough mower was under repair. The rough was growing fast and there was a premium on hitting the fairway. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

course
fun course to play, Plays slow some times need more marshals. should lower the $$$$ a little.
Enjoyable golf experience
I enjoyed walking the course. No waiting during the week. The staff are very professional. Greens are in good shape. The red tees are short...the white tees were very challenging for me. I would recommend this golf course. I have been playing this course since 1990. Great practice facility and teaching professionals.
Fun course good price
I always enjoy Peacock Gap,play there about 3 times a yr.Its a good layout. There have been some complaints about the greens recently but they seemed to have tackled the fungus infection and almost all the greens are back to pristine condition..For the money you cant beat this course.
This course was ordinary. A little bit crowding.
It was nice course to play.
Fairway condition was tolerable, green good.
It's a real pity that they just don't seem capable of improving the quality of their greens which frankly are an embarrassment
Some of the dollars that are being spent to rebuild the club house should have been doesn't on the course. The great location and pleasant layout is spoilt by very poor condition.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. 2013 was a difficult year for us. An unfortunate fungus overtook the greens and created some difficult playing conditions. We've turned around the conditions 180 degrees. The greens are the best I've seen them. Just the other day we stimped them at 11.1
We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Great value....
Great deal at $15 to walk. Pace of play was slow for a Monday afternoon. Green were better than had been in the last 6 months.
fair enough
even though certain degree of attention is required in fairways and greens, overall course condition is fair enough. surroundings and atmosphere is good. Most of all, great value for money!!
Greens are improving, Great practice area, lots of construction
My first time here; I was worried about the greens after reading all of the reviews. Yes I could see patches where repairs were under way but I could still putt through them. The practice area looked nice although I did not have time to partake (practice green, a bunker with chipping green, grass driving range.) There is another practice green up between the 1st and 10th tee which proved very useful as I waited for the groups ahead of me to tee off.
I was very worried about pace of play to start; we were backed up on the tee box, the starter left his post and never returned. I was a single and expecting the others to join me for my 1:39 tee time, nobody showed. I instead went out with a later threesome. The starter should have been there. Because there was a group of 3 ahead of us and we were 4, we kept pace but rarely had to wait on a shot. Likewise there were only a few times where the threesome behind us had to wait on us to finish.
There is a ton of construction going on so dust, noise and confusion abound. I'm sure when it's all done the place will be fantastic. I don't know what this place usually costs, I got a last minute Friday afternoon tee time from GolfNow for $20 which is an insane value.
Course has gotten in better shape.
Played Peacock in May the course has much improved since.Especially the greens.Fairways are nice and green .Course in general looks and plays really nice.
The changes to this course are excellent
Not having played this course in a while, the re do makes this a fun excellent course..Nothing hard or easy, but extremely fun. The changes made were great improvements to the greens and the addition of some bunkers.. Yes I will be back..
This course still needs work.Green are still slow.
The greens are still very slow and some of the fairways as well as some of the tee boxes need work.Playing in the afternoons on weekdays with affordable pricing does have its advantage.
On the way up
Course has come a long way under new ownership. An enormous new club house and banquet center demonstrate that there is long term vision for course and grounds - so I'm sure plans are to continue to maintain and invest in both. I contine to be impressed with the weekend pace of play. Consistently at and under 4 hour weekend rounds will keep me coming back! Only negatives: fairways are spotty, exacerbated by local goose population. A common problem for many bay area courses stymied by state waterfowl protections. A serpintine creek provides a continuous water hazard around the course. No issue with the hazard, but do wish they could make the water less stagnant and flow more like a real stream. Perhaps a few strategically placed pumps and some hydraulic engineering are included in future plans.
Forgiving course
This is an easy to moderate course, not very long, and very forgiving. For the price, its a good deal. I also liked the grass driving range.
Good overall
We had a good day. I felt the greens could have been a lot better. They were slow and rough like they had not been cut in a few days. Other then that the course is in very good shape.
Thanks...
This course is ridiculously expensive for what it offers...
Peacock Gap is a nice course, please don't get me wrong. But for a round of Golf, a cart, and a bucket of balls, I could pay the same amount to go to almost any of the very nice country clubs in the surrounding area as a guest. In some cases, it would be even less.
Peacock has gotten a bit better, but there are still course inconsistencies (mud splotches near greens for example) that for the premium price they are charging you'd expect to be in better shape.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We've only gotten better since you played last. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.
