Needed more people in pro shop to help with check-ins
Was a good value . Driving range was closed not able to warm up. Narrow fairways can be difficult for novice players.
The drought has taken its toll here
Fairways hard, dry and bare in many places. Green in good shape. Tee boxes average and cart paths are abysmal where there are any.
Not sure what is going on, but the course is definitely in a decline right now.
Challenging but frustrating
This course had decent holes, especially on the back 9 where it felt as though it really stretched out and you could see the foothills.
The frustrating part was each hole is isolated with houses, creeks/water or wilderness on either side, which meant if you didn't keep it straight and fair all day, you'd pay for it all day. Numerous holes have hazards or bunkers cutting right across the middle, causing you more trouble and penalizing if you can't get through it.
Course could also use better maintenance. Fairways not in the greatest condition, and greens hard.
Nice course with good price
Nice course with few challenge green. Price is good, fairway need more maintain. People there are very nice.
Course has potential
It's difficult to provide a complete, accurate assessment of the course since I played following two days of heavy rains. Most of the holes were saturated with water making play somewhat of a muddy mess. This was expected and should not be considered a dig on the course.
As for the pace of play, I would definitely rate the course a negative. Each hole took, on an average, 25 minutes with not one Marshall to be found. The foursome in front of my threesome were stiflingly slow, but were no match for the foursome in front of them.
I doubt I will playing this course again anytime soon. I'm sure there are better options in the area.
Great course for the value.
Could not drag or tap the slider on some of the answers. I personally think this is the best course for the value that offers great challenge from the blue tees.
The course is fun and challenging, All the hole have plenty of landing room for your tee shot and none of the fairways run along side of each other,
I enjoy playing at the San Ramon Golf course. Good warm up area, chipping, putting and driving range.
I played in a Tuesday afternoon and it took me less than 4 hours to finish 18 holes. Weather was great and the place was nice.
I played once last week and once this week. Both times were in the weekday afternoon. My group had no wait and nobody pushing us from behind. Greens were not too dry or too wet. Since it's late autumn, so there were dead leaves on some greens. I played at San Ramon many times and I usually lost a few balls in the water. Last 2 times I got the balls on the signature 9th hole island green without losing any balls in the water. I felt good about that even my scores were still in the 90's.
This course is great for the money.
Fun to play. 9th hole is interesting as its an island you have to hit on. Very good for the price we paid.
San Ramon
Golf course was well kept. They had air rated the green so we could not get a good feel for them. Overall play was good.
Good value, when aerating/topsetting the greens
Since the course was maintaining their greens, they only charged half price. This made it a better value, as their isn't much special about the course. The 9th hole is interesting, as they created a little island, but, overall, not overly challenging. The staff was cordial, not overly friendly. But, again, given the price, I couldn't complain.
overall course pretty good and reasonably priced
course in good shape and played fast for a public course
Poor course conditions spoiled the round
Have played this course over a dozen times but yesterday's conditions were among the worst. The teeing area were thin, worn and very uneven on almost every tee box. There were many patchy areas even with middle of the fairway drives. A lot of GUR and even more that should have been marked but wasn't. Greens were absolutely pockmarked with unrepaired divots. They were much slower than the practice green. Even short straight puts bounced erratically left or right after hitting some unseen bump or divot mark. I like this course for its locale, good deals and friendly staff but it's going to be a while before I feel up to playing it again..
Flat, fairways in rough shape
Played this course on Sunday 10-14. Very few people on the course, although the threesome in front of us was slow. No marshall to hurry them along. Fariways seem to be mainly crab grass! Lots of brown spots etc. Course is flat, plays fairly narrow but not very challenging.
Great day hole 9 is a lot of fun,lay up then pitch it over the water.
Had a tee time at 1:22 pm went to check in and was informed a ladies tournament was under way,and had to wait an additional 30 minutes which turned into an hour later.
A great value
San Ramon Golf Club is a great value, good course conditions, the staff is friendly. Pace of play can be slow because of the overall value of course, its a busy course
