Good value, great staff
Pleasantly surprised and grateful to have played this course. Layout was good and the greens were solid. Carts were a little slow, but more than adequate.
I noticed a great amount of walkers after the early tee times, so there’s definitely an opportunity for those who prefer a more intimate experience. For those summer dog days, the course provides plenty of drinking and cups to keep cool.
Note: the bunkers could use more sand on the front 9 and the green at hole 17 is still healing after heavy renovation.
Overall, Sugar Creek provides excellent value and good vibes. I had fun on this track and I look forward to returning soon.
Special thanks to the honest members and professional pro shop staff that safely returned my lost phone. You guys (and lady) are awesome!
Dry as a bone
First time I played here I was shocked at how well kept the fairways were during the warm season. Can confirm that is no longer true - it was clear that no one has properly taken care of the course if anyone has even attempted to. Fairways were like hitting off of packed dried clay. Never going back, major ripoff for the price
Greens are rolling
Nice greens. Some challenging tee shots. Fairways were in very good shape. Great value.
Fair to partly cloudy
My brother in-law and played Sugarcreek on a absolutely gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I played the course w few years ago and could only remember the course had drainage problem after a hard rain and played soppy in spots. On this day the course was in great shape. The greens ran fast and true. The fairways; although firm, were mowed tight with no rough to mention.
Worst golf experience of my life. Time and money better spent elsewhere
First off, don’t allow tee times to be booked if you’re hosting a tournament. I had a 2:20 tee time booked, showed up at 1:30 and was told that they were not accepting players due to a junior tournament going on. We were then told to go to the range and they’d come get us and let us know when/if we would get to tee off. After an hour on the range with no one coming out, we went inside and were told we would be good to go once a cart was available (waited another 15 minutes). Once we got out on the course it was in less that acceptable shape. Tee boxes were bare and almost impossible to even get a tee in the ground. In one case there was a tree root running through the tee box…I mean your just asking to have someone break their wrist(smh). Greens were a 6/10 at best. Fairways were bare and under construction in some places. I mean just all around bad. The best part of the day was finding out the course looped back by the clubhouse at the turn so we could leave after 9 and not have to play the rest of the round. I have never left in the middle of a round before and had zero hesitation in doing so on this day. Needless to say I will never play here again nor will I recommend it to anyone. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Nice course, decent condition
Just hitting the heat of summer, but coolers were out of water. Very slow group in front made it a bit frustrating. Marshall had a talk with them...Good layout, great staff. Some stock issues in the restaurant, but everyone is having those problems.
Great round of golf Plus great food
The staff and the course is up to par the greens are always in good shape and it's a pretty good place to play I like it because it's challenging and you have to hit the ball straight 90% of the time that's what you want to do anyway but this course is designed for the straight ball player enjoy fellow players.
The food is excellent
Could be a lot better.
Nice location. Decent track. Greens are much improved. Course still needs work. Most tee boxes are bumpy or uneven. Need more grass in fairway. You can hit a shot in the middle of the fairway and your ball ends up in a dirt patch. But staff is working on course and I see they install grass in some fairways. Staff that check you in are very slow. Even though they had a row of carts they didn’t want to give my group a cart because we check in 30 min before our tee time. Didn’t make sense to me. They also made sure we had 2 to a cart which is okay but then the group behind us had 3 players and each one had their own cart. The course is run by Dekalb county and it oblivious that the upfront staff lack golfing knowledge.
Sugarcreek golf Sugar Creek golf
This is an up-and-coming golf course in Atlanta, they are putting a lot of work in the greens and the course it was fun to play. The staff was very accommodating even with the event that was scheduled the day we played. I am My foursome look forward to going back to Sugarcreek after all the improvements have been completed, this will be a fantastic course
This was my second time play this course h
The first time on this course was monday of this week. I loved it immediately. From the friendliness of the staff, and the free and eazy way the course seem to flow. I am glad I decided to Play when I did, but wish I did sooner. I feel the course has inproved my game and I would recommand it to anyone who loves the the sport. Karvin Dill.
Bad Day
Staff is friendly, course is in decent shape for the value. We got harassed for by some individuals behind us due to the cart staff/starter’s mistake. We somehow got to book a tee time in the middle of a tournament. Folks in front of us were playing extremely slow. Ended up playing 3 holes and left.
Great value
For the money this course was pretty good and I'll definitely be going back. You can tell they've put in a lot of work to improve the conditions. Some of the greens weren't in the best shape but with the work you could see going on in a few months all the greens should be great. The front nine was challenging, you have to hit good drives on every hole. The fairways for tee shots were super narrow and it forces you to make a good golf shot or pay the price. The back nine opens up and allows for more easy scoring. 45 bucks for a weekend round is a great deal considering I've played other local courses more expensive where half the greens are dead and you might as well putt blindfolded on them. Pace of play was decent, about 4 and half hours for 18 on a great weather, busy Saturday.
Decent course
After reading a few positive reviews I booked a round with my wife. The course was short and tight. Got to hit them straight here. Half the tee boxes were sand. All the greens were hard and fast. Noticed that the ground was not flat around the holes so a slow putt would turn away from the hole. Really strange. Layout was nice. Looks like there was a lot of work in progress. Lots of spots on the fairway not covered with grass. Very bad lies on dirt. Golf carts were good.
