Visiting from California and really enjoyed the layout, will be back!!!
Great improvements at Sugar Creek!
I have played here for many years, but once it went downhill a few years ago quit going there. They have re-opened and done a significant amount of work on the course. It was in really good condition, greens rolling, bunkers full of sand, well mowed, etc. I see some tree work going on but wish they would raise the canopy on trees around some of the tee boxes as they really block out your tee shot. Staff very friendly and helpful for us as they had a tourney and no carts available. Great experience overall, will be back!
A wonderful course.
This was my first time playing the course and I look forward to playing it again.
Better than Expected
I had never played at Sugar Creek before but had stayed away due to some of the bad reviews. However, the recent reviews indicated that this course has become better.
I played on Labor Day and the course was in good shape. The greens were great and I could tell that the course is being taken care of.
Would play again for sure- it wasn't the cheapest around but was certainly enjoyable.
Not sweet but should play
Sugar Creek is not sweet if you are a spreader!!!!
I SEE THE PROGRESS!
I played this course over a year ago whenever it first reopened. I remember muddy fairways, nonexistent tee boxes, broken bridges, and patchy greens. To say I was skeptical about coming back was an understatement. Don’t get me wrong, the layout is one of the best in Atlanta in my opinion.
Fast forward to today, i was VERY impressed with the maintenance and work that’s been done since my last visit. I will 100% come back AND this may become a regular spot for me and my guys! The greens keeper stated there’s a lot more work that needs to be done, but I was more than happy with my experience.
First Time Back Since it Reopened - Better Than Ever
This was my main course when I last played regularly in the early aughts. Today, it was all the goodness I remembered, plus a better clubhouse and pub area. The place is built in floodplain, so drainage after a big storm is always an issue. A few of the low lying areas were muddy enough to affect play. But the greens were smooth and true, the fairway is tight and challenging, and for some reason very few fellow golfers today.
I’ll be back.

Course was too wet, almost on every hole . Needs lots of work. Debris in the middle of fairway on 15 hole across all of fairway. Shameful. Will not go back until they repair the course.
