This course was in terrible condition when we played. The grass on the front 9 had not been cut in a while. Weeds were growing on the greens and there were bare spots. The back 9 was better, however. Can't see playing this course again unless major improvements are made.
The last time we played here the course was in good shape. Was very surprised at the poor condition this time. Would have asked for a refund after the first hole, but was paid through GolfNow.
golf course need lots of work
golf course need lots of work
green was not green
tee box was mass
cart driveway need work
don't want to play anymore
Poor course condition
Great price.
Friendly staff.
Terrible course conditions.
The fairways were not cut and no different than the roughs. Greens were bare of grass in many spots causing your ball to hop skip and jump.
Lost several balls in the middle of the fairway.
Go here if you are just looking to practice your swing.
Let it go
I dont know if they plan on shutting down or not, but they have completely let it go. Worst greens ever, and they dont even bother with the bunkers. Its a free for all. I played it several times a couple of years ago and it wasnt that bad
Should be ashamed
Had a couple of buddies come out to play with me who were not from the area and I was embarrassed. Back nine closed and only found this out at the counter paying the green fees, ankle high fairway grass, tee boxes with no markers or hard to find them because of high grass. Un playable course at present. We abandoned the effort and went else where. Why has Dekalb neglected this property so? As a relatively new golfer in Dekalb it is a travesty that the county would treat it's county members this way..... Would this sort of thing happen in Gwinnett? Of course not.
Skip this one
Fairways not mowed, horrible greens, no sand in bunkers. I'm sure that the course was good at one time, but it has really been neglected. My advice...pay a little more and play some place decent. Worst course I have been on.
this is a good course if you like adventure while playing. course poorly maintained and would have a hard time finding out ball even when we hit it in the fairway. slowed down the game and pace. poor maintenance on the course. Some times we didnt even know if we were driving to next hole. Staff was great though. but would not play here again.
I couldn't believe what I saw.
First of all, let me say that I was a volunteer worker for two golf courses in Miami, FL. so I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to make a golf course "playable ".
Sugar Creek should be shut down, period. I drove from Covington to see what should be a great place for cattle to graze. Is there any way I could get a refund? Fairway grass above our ankles, and we lost 4 balls after hitting them right down the middle. I hadn't played there in over a year and a half, and when the attendants asked us how was it, I asked him if he was serious. He asked my wife and I to come back and visit, I almost laughed in his face. Golf Now, please drop this course from your avaliable courses. I WILL NEVER, EVER GO THERE AGAIN UNLESS THEY HAVE AT LEAST A 4 STAR RATING!
Sugar creek no good
I have played over 800 times in 6 years since I started to play golf. Got the "bug" bad. Let me start by saying the staff was friendly and I mean that. Everything else was a disaster. The course looked like it was post apocalyptic. Maybe I came the day before they cut the grass but it hadn't looked like it was cut yet from last year. The driving range looked like the "field of dreams"corn fields from the movie. The golf cart I first jumped on was dead, then the one I got was fast but did not have locking brakes for on the hills. 20$ on this day was definitely not a fair price. I have played a lot of other courses that were better and far cheaper. I really wish that during the course of my short late blooming golf life I had written more reviews of the courses I've played. I would have shared many amazing moments leading up to now. I have never disliked any golf course in my life so far and im not going to start now. 99% of my golfing life has been off of golnow website by the way . I was #7 in their first year for booking rounds in Florida and last year i was invited to a tournament for being a valued Customer which unfortunately I was not able to make because I moved to Atlanta. As a consolation I was given a M2 Driver which I am very appreciative for. I believe with better matanance this course can be enjoyed by all. It needs some work.
Literally the worst corse I have ever played
Bunkers looked like they haven't been touched in years
too much to list
I will never play here again
Terrible Course!!! Please save your $.
When we got to the course they said they were not ready for us and we waited almost 45 minutes to take the first tee. The fairways had big piles of sticks and trash in the middle and look like it had been at least a couple weeks since they were last cut. We lost balls in the middle of multiple fairways.... The tee boxes had grass that was taller than the ball on the tee and the greens had uncut sections that had grass over the top of the ball. Some tee boxes didn't have a single marker on them. I moved a couple that were there just to look and what was enderneath was almost dirt. They hadn't moved in forever. If you are thinking about playing this course then please just stay at home and play in your front yard. I almost forgot to mention that our cart had no park break so we had to have a car pull up in front / behind us every time we stopped to keep the cart from rolling down the hills. It was an utter disaster from the moment we pulled in until we left. Please don't waste your time.
Has been and still is a tennis facility!
From the very begininning, my not my playing partners carts had a parking brake. Tough to stop them and very dangerous.
The layout of the course is challenging because it's very tight and you also have holes that you have to layup and cross water or hazards. On the front nine the fairway was long and the greens didn't have much grass at all. The tees were so hard you couldn't get your peg in the ground all the way. Then you turn to the back nine and from the 14th to the 17th we lost balls in the fairway. You had to step on the ball to find it. They hadn't been cut in a week or more. None of the bunkers were groomed on the entire course, and they didn't appear to have actual sand in the bunkers!
The people inside were nice and they took care of me, but no one is taking care of the golf course. If you're just jonesin to play, go for it, but don't expect much.
It has been and still is a great tennis facility. Can't wait for the tournament this summer, but won't play the golf course again!
Don't waste precious hours of your life!
Worst course I have ever played. Barely could stick a tee in the tee boxes, fairways were awful and hadn't been cut in several weeks. The greens were like putting on hardwood floors with bare spots everywhere. Wouldn't recommend this course to anyone, now if they charged 5 dollars a round, then maybe its worth it. Not for $23, terrible value.
Horrible Experience
This course has not been taken care of. The greens and fairways haven't been cut in years. It was hard finding your ball in middle of fairway. It was like playing plinko when trying to putt.
Stay away!
Tee boxs and greens had not been cut in weeks. There is no fairway cut. There was trash on the course. My golf cart died after the first hole. I packed everything up and walked back to the clubhouse and got a refund. They did not seemed surprised that I wanted my money back. When I asked when the last time the grass was cut I was told he didn't know.
Avoid Avoid Avoid !!!!!!
Avoid this place like the plague. The place has completely broken down and its very sad.
Everything is terrible,
The fairways are horrible.
The greens? only a hungry goat a appreciate them. Dead or overgrown.
Bunkers? Just mudpits.
They also do not have enough carts, and the few that are operational have issues, bad brakes, running out of power halfway through the 1st nine etc.
What a disaster!!
Sugarcreek
The golf course was in terrible condition
