Great Course
This course is one of the best. Layout is awesome. Staff was very helpful. Will definitely be back.
Fun intermediate course
Great course. Wide open fairways and maintained well.
Great experience!
I was in the area for a couple days and found a brochure at a hotel about Apple Valley. The course was challenging for an average golfer. I really enjoyed the layout of the course. There were some open fairways and some challenging ones as well. Playing courses in North Georgia will have its share hills as well. The greens were very quick and required skill to play them.
Great Background
Nice course, fast greens, deep bunkers Great place for a golf day!
CONDITIONS WERE GREAT
THE COURSE WAS OPEN AND WONDERFUL. SHOT A GOOD ROUND, SCORING WELL IS EASY IF YOU KEEP THE BALL IN THE FAIRWAY. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WILL PLAY AGAIN. FACILITIES WERE NICE.
good open layout
good course, can score good with open fairways. fun course, will definitely be back.
nice layout
great course. in great condition greens were quick
Fun course
I have been playing this course since it was built and was called Hollywood Hills. It is my favorite course because it is "forgiving" and has some very interesting holes. I had a great time and a good score.
Disappointed
Didn't know till we arrived that they had just plugged and sanded the greens the day before! The fairways were in good condition and it was a beautiful day with just a little wind but the greens were terrible! Two putt rule in effect all day! They did cut the price rate I had booked slightly because of the greens. The great thing was there was nobody on the course! We played the tips which makes some holes challenging. But the course is very open and forgiving.
Great layout
Great layout. Wide open but many challenges . Staff was super friendly for a first time guest. Would recommend it for all skill levels.
change for the worse
have played this course for many years playing two/ three times a week but when hollidayI inn took over prices went up and the friendly service quickly disappeared and have played here only once sense how I wish for the thing to return to good old days
Pleasantly surprised
It had been about 3 years since I played here. WOW! what an improvement! Even though the course is short, it has elevation changes and doglegs to make you work for par. The greens were excellent as well as the fairways. Sand traps are well maintained. I shall return!
Apple Mtn.
First time for me. Staff was extremely friendly. They were renovating clubhouse and didn't have any food so they gave me directions to a close Subway. Course was as wide open as advertised and in very good shape.
The greens were hard to figure out. Fast when chipping but slow to putt. No surprises, the course is there in front of you. No water and very few traps. No need for a yarage book. It was a good course to play and will play again.
just a fun round
I play this course regularly and it is just a fun course. As one of the other reviewer mentioned if you hit an errant shot you can find your ball and still make bogey.
One note. While waiting on the first tee for the people to clear, we had a twosome go right in front of us without saying a word to us, just teed off as if we were not there. I have NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN IN 25 YEARS OF PLAYING! They were slow and let us through on number 2.(even though we were walking and they were riding)
Fun Course
Great course for the average golfer, no water and not a lot of bunkers. The course is pretty open, so even if you miss the fairway you probably have a shot. The fairways were in good condition and so were the greens. The greens putt true without a lot of undulations. I have played there numerous times and always enjoy it.
Excellent Bargain
Haven't played here since last summer. Course in great shape. Ball sits up nicely on fairway as well as rough so be careful about going under it. Have to hit the green. Ball will stop like velcro if it hits short. Got a good price through Golf Now but were given a better deal because of special price available locally. The staff were friendly and definitely a good place to play.
Best Course of the Year
I brought a few friends up from North Atlanta for a golf outing recently at Apple Mountain. We were not disappointed.. You could really tell that a lot of money was put into the course recently. We noticed a new men's and women's handicap bathroom plus handicap parking near the front of the pro shop. The staff in the pro shop was more than friendly and catered to our every need. The head pro even came out on the course to check on us to see how our round was going. You don't even see that at my home course (The River Club in Suwanee). This is a very fun course that stays in excellent shape year round. Plus the views are breathtaking. It's a player friendly course but don't take it for granted. Some holes, especially number 8, can play kinda long into the wind. This has become my favorite course and I can't wait to play there again soon.
Great Scenery conditions have deteriorated
I started playing this course 15 years ago with my dad and grandpa. Unfortunately I have seen the course go downhill dramatically over the years. There are very beautiful scenes especially when you tee off on number 8 and 18 from the blue tees. We played there in the middle of July and the course was in overall good shape. The greens were very slow but I would imagine it's hard to keep them cut low during this hot, humid Georgia heat. We play there year round and the course is not great at all from about November to March. There are huge clumps everywhere on the course and the poa annua is everywhere during the summer. It's tough to play your ball as it lies. We even noticed poa annua on the greens this spring. I think the superintendent let the course go because I never see him working at all, just riding around with an ugly dog. The tall boy behind the counter is very friendly but covered in tattoos. The other kid Chris or Chad might be his name. Talking to him is like talking to a statue. He just wants to check you in, mumble something and get you out of there. The bathrooms are worse than any 7/11 i've ever been in. No paper towels, soap, or toilet paper. There is also no grill at all just soggy sandwiches that stay in the refrigerator for weeks. Horrible place for a larger group or a group that play's alot of holes. No cart girl either. I hear that they hired a new pro lately so maybe positive changes will come. If the pro knows anything, he"ll get a superintendent that knows what he is doing. Because i've seen that course in outstanding shape, It used to be my favorite course by far. At one time it was the best course around or maybe even in Georgia. Its was easily a $65.00 or $70.00 course if it was in the shape that it was in 10 or more years ago. I would join in a heartbeat,. It is a very player friendly course with enough challenges to make you think. I'll be back but I just hope it improves. Just my opinion
