A Diamond in the Rough
In the tree-lined mountains of north Georgia is this gem.
While initially more interested in the "resort" side of the road we were quite surprised at the quality and layout of the course. That layout for us meant few trees, very little thick brush. and no noticeable water hazards or annoying bunker placements. The hills and undulating greens made for a challenging round, although I had one of my best games ever. And the views from the top of some hills was just spectacular.
We had to wait out a drenching thunderstorm (common for the time of year) on the turn but the course drained well and we were not hampered by puddles and mud on the back nine.
We enjoyed our play so much we booked a time for the next day.
If you are in the Helen, Cleveland or Clarkesville area of Georgia I highly recommend considering this "diamond in the rough."
Oh, and the family-style resort is now part of the Holiday Inn Club Vacations group with horse-back riding and condos on the course.
No fans of Golf Now
I have played this course many times. It has declined and the staff treats you like second class citizens for going through Golf Now. They made several comments and were offensive. I decided to not play this course again. Sadly, it has been one of my favorites in the past.
Wide Open Spaces
Fairly wide open course made it very enjoyable. Some well placed hazards here and there make it a bit more challenging but overall it is a course that any player of any caliber would enjoy. Fairways are always cut nice, rough is well defined but you don't have to worry about not finding your ball because it is buried, and the greens are nice and slick...especially for not having gotten any rain for a few days. Very enjoyable course.
Only complaint would be that the guys at the clubhouse aren't the friendliest. A couple of them are great guys, a couple seem just lazy and barely speak or move.
Course was in great shape.
Course was awesome. I was a single player, and 4 groups ahead of me were extremely slow. Did not see a Ranger all round, and wasn't allowed to playou through. No Golf ettiquette!

We took a group of 22 men from our church to play. Individuals at course worked with us on price, t-times, etc. Good experience & good day of golf. Course was in good shape & is one for all skill levels. Also pace of play was good even for our group size, was not rushed. Recommend to eat @ Blue Creek Farmhouse Market near the course to make it a eat & golf day
One of my favorites
Since this course is an easy fifteen minutes from my house I consider Apple Mountain a home course. The length of the course and the open design allows for an enjoyable round of golf for any skill level. Im always impressed with the greens and the speed they play. I recommend this course to anyone.
Fun Course
Apple Mountain at first glance seems to be an easy course. The greens have a lot of breaks and when freshly cut are fast. Over the years since I started playing here, the pine trees have grown considerably taller and come into play much more than the previous year.
There is little tough roughs and hardly any deep grass. Lost balls is unusual but if you put it into trees a chip out is the only way to avoid high numbers.
The staff is very golfer friendly and do whatever they can to accommodate the players.
There is a decent practice area here with bunker and chipping green along with a nice putting green.
It is my course of choice day in and day out. Don't play there please. I'm trying to keep it a secret. lol
Apple
Good course need to keep carts off fairways worm out grass very thin
Great Place for the $
I have been playing here for 5 years and it's always a great place to play. Not a lot of trouble to get into off the tee box, but the fast firm greens usually make up for it. One of my favorite places to play.
Great value and good time
Pleasant course. Fairly easy, but the elevation changes created some challenges. Had a great time in a very relaxed setting
Great Day At Apple Mountain
Apple Mountain is a fun course to play for most golfers. It is not too long, nor too short. The greens were in great shape and rolled smoothly, especially for Mid-November. My friend and I thoroughly enjoy playing this course every chance we get. We played 27 holes on Saturday and came back for 18 more on Sunday afternoon.
Great condition!
I'd played this course years ago and I remembered that the condition wasn't great.
Since I got a $10 Hot Deal on GolfNow, I decided to try the course again. It was in the best condition of any public course I've played in years. The fairways were excellent. The rough was defined, but you could still find your ball. The bent grass greens ran true - if a little bit slow.
The one guy in the pro shop never came out from behind his counter - even when I asked about buying some shoes. When I asked about a shoe horn, he told me to look under a bench to see if one was there. He kept sitting down behind the counter, so I decided to buy some shoes elsewhere.
Apple of my eye
Mountain golf with generous fairways. Unlike some of the other mountain courses you could hit a wide shot and still have the opportunity for a recovery shot. Makes it more enjoyable for the average golfer not to have so many penalty shots on the scorecard.
Good value, fun course
Apple Mountain is fairly open, but it has enough contours and elevation changes to keep it interesting. It is a cross between mountain golf and meadow golf.
Fun, short course
This is a fun course that is fairly wide open. Short par 5's and challenging par 3's. If you it well off the tee you should have a lot of short iron shots into the greens.
Fun course
Great, fairly easy course. Can have challenging pen placements to make the course tougher. All par 3's are challenging from the back tee's.
Fun Hacker Friendly Course!
Wide and open fairways along with greens that hold the ball well make this a fun course to play. Not too difficult even from the back tees. Hackers rejoice, no water hazards and not a lot of trouble to find on this course. Course was maintained and in very good shape. Great place to play, you will enjoy the changes in elevations on nearly every hole.
Great course to play. In great condition
I had a great experience. If you are close you should play this course. Lots of fun for beginner and others alike.
Lots of fun. Challenging but not brutal.
Fairways are generous as are greens. Limited sand bunkers and no forced water carries so course is friendly for those who aren't long hitters or who occasionally hit it along the ground. Every hole is either up or down hill so sometimes you get to hit a really long drive!!! A good couples course! Although quite hilly the course would be very walkable for those inclined.
Great for players of all caliber
nice and wide open for the most part. Course is taken care of very well. Could use some extra bunkers and some water hazards to make more difficult, but when you are playing like I am at the moment not a big deal.
