About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Winter is mostly to blame
Course conditions were awful. Mud everywhere and cart path only even tho we were 3 days removed from rain. Greens were solid but slow. Course layout stinks. Just randomly meandering thru very hilly terrain. Not a lot of sense to it. There was par 4s where I hit longer clubs on my second shot than off the tee. And par 5s where I had only 165 in on the second shot. Clubhouse being renovated - awesome outdoor grill setup at the turn tho. Very good burgers. No beer cart on a Saturday makes no sense.

Course closed early due to severe weather
Can I have a rain check due to course closing early? The pro shop told me to reach out to golf now since reservation was prepaid.

Good but.... should have been better
great, friendly staff - very helpful & accomodating
great course but in poor condition - course has deteriorated over the past few years although greens fairly decent
rude foursome held up numerous groups with extremely slow play and never offered to even let a single play through - no marshalls on course to help manage pace of play & golf etiquette

The worst pace of play my group has ever experienced on a golf course. On hole 2, we counted five groups on the same hole (two waiting at the tee box, one teeing off, one in the fairway, one on the green). And this continued for the entire round. We quit after spending three and a half hours through 11 holes, and then a patron we passed on the way back to the clubhouse yelled a profanity at us for driving by them! Nearly everyone on the course had bad etiquette and played incredibly slow. Save your money and do not come here.

Sad, sad and sad.
It was very sad to see this course has deteriorated in just one year since I last played here. It was very confusing with many of the signs missing. My app had the first hole different to where everyone seemed to be starting but there was no starter so I just went with the app.
It was sad to see so many divots and ball marks. Doesn't anyone care anymore?

Glad we got to play
Played on a cold day, course not busy, they let us tee off early. Jacob in clubhouse was pleasant & helpful. Previously discussed w/ Luke a golf deal we had purchased & he honored it. Thanks Luke. Course was in good condition for this time of year & after a day of rain. Leaves blown off the course. Always enjoy playing. Usually play gold tees but will move up on a couple to make it more enjoyable.
