About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Slow greens
It rained pretty bad the day before so it was to be expected for the greens to be slow but this was ridiculous and inconsistent. Otherwise a great course!!

Overall good experience
Booked a later tee time, 4:10pm, and though they weren't busy still had a good many people on the course. The course itself was really fun yet challenging and well maintained but some people just played at an incredibly slow pace that made the experience less enjoyable.

Sand was bad
Overall this is a great course. The sand traps however we’re not kept up at all. It hadn’t rained in days but all of the sand was matted down and hard.

Great Pace of Play
Went on a Tuesday at 12:30 and no one in front of us. Played in 3 1/2 hrs. Perfect....

Pace of play nightmare
Booked for 9 holes and I only made it through 2 after it took an hour to play only 2 holes. I was a single, there was a couple playing in front of me. They each took 2 shots or more. Each only had 2-3 groups on it at any given time. Absolute nightmare scenario.
Overall the course wasn’t terrible. Weeds on the fringe made it tough for chipping and putting.

Another good day @ RLGC
Would give a 4.5 if available, I don’t give many 5’s, if any. Our foursome have been playing there regularly for the last 1.5 years+ on a 2 year deal purchased w/ an outside source. We’re treated like club members. The course yesterday was in very good shape, greens especially & fairways are green & growing in. We did have to wait a little, but not bad, still finished in 4 hours. Nick a starter there keeps tee times on schedule & if there’s an open time we’re able to tee off early. He’s very friendly & cordial, even brought us our carts yesterday.
Lydia, Kate & Todd in the pro shop are always nice, pleasant & willing to work with you on tee times. If you’ve not played I highly recommend

Royal Lakes
I regularly play this course as well as others in Hall and Gwinnett. The staff is friendly and they do a good job of keeping it in good shape. They fight a constant struggle on a few of the bunkers with drainage issues, and the greens are slower than most in the area. They roll true, but they are slower. I play from white tees, and like the fact that 2 of the par fives are within reach with 2 good shots. They recently flipped the nines, and #18 is a tough finish, so get your work done early, and hang on. There are a couple of short par fours which seem "getable", but there are subtleties that keep you working...I play about 5 rounds per month.

Great course, bunkers were not good
This is a great place to play overall. Unfortunately when I played they had not taken care of the bunkers recently. They were hard from rain with zero soft spots.
