Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Hole 11 Green Photo submitted by baldeagle218 on 05/17/2019
Greens improving
Royal lakes has a great layout with different clubs required for each tee shot. They are continuing to improve the course with new grass on tee boxes and the greens are starting to return after a fungus for the past year or two. The bunkers do need some sand but fairways are looking good. The only negative is there is not Marshall so they can get backed up. Also there are residents who just tee off anywhere on the course. There was a guy who just showed up with clubs, own cart, big dog and loud music? He may be a member but definitely just showed up the 13th hole. Also, on the turn another (member) just showed up on the 10th hole? I will commend the course for continued improvements. Also, the second hole (signature) for the course is now the second and not the 11th that requires lay ups to an island green! The signature whole is a lot of fun but prefer to have it as 11th hole so you are dialed in with your clubs for the day. I would recommend giving this course a try is you haven't or where disappointed with the greens in the past. I look forward to watch to the course improve.
Great course and value
The course is great for all skill levels. It is a great bang for the buck. Very friendly staff.
Greens were nice and fun layout
The greens played pretty well, tee boxes were subpar but the rest of the country club was good. Staff was friendly, range and putting green was nice.
Best practice tee around
The greens were recently punched but they were playable and will be good in a week
Apparently greens have been an issue
Hit balls off a wonderful grass range
However course is dry as a bone and can watch ball bounce 50 yards off the slope
Really enjoyed the layout.
The 2nd hole par 5 is ok for good players with 2 forced carries but impossible for ladies who can not hit the ball 100 yards in the air
Had a nice lunch in the club house
Will be back

Fairway condition not bad ,
But most green condition so bad
Nothing changes, nothing changes.
Packed it in after 1 hole, worked there 5 years ago for about two years wanted to see if anything was different. Still the same, after 7 years little investment to improve course. Rode the course to check it out as play was going to be a 6 hour round. Do not enjoy golf like that, little ranger control. Had 3 foursomes on the second hole, people in fairway where retrieving balls from pond area for at least 10 minutes. Seems to be proper golf etiquette required to teach the newbies or this game will definitely disappear.
